★ Battle of the Network Stars VIII ★
May 4th, 1980
Ahh, we're finally entering the 1980's! When I began this series, I thought I'd breeze through the episodes from beginning to end quickly and easily. The best laid plans... It's taken longer than I planned, especially ensuring the shots I feature are from the episode I'm spotlighting. I know I've made some mistakes, especially with actors like Gregory Harrison, who wore his speedos in multiple battles. Although the bathing suit bulge is my focus, sometimes I can only identify the exact battle by who else in the photo.
But, back to this battle, the first in the 1980's. The one and only Battle I watched when it aired was actually the last Battle in 1988. I saw a few older ones in the 1990's when they aired repeats on the TRIO network. I didn't have the channel, but remember seeing while visiting my brother who at the time had a satellite dish. The rest, I caught on Youtube, most of which, are still there today.
It's nice to be up to the 1980's though, as I'm more familiar with the contestants In some of the shows from the 1970's, I had no clue who some of the 'celebrities' were. Now that we're into the 80', I have to head to Google fare fewer times than I did when watching the earlier versions.
