Iskrigerne

Iskrigerne; Hard hitting docuseries about Norwegian Vålerenga hockey team.

When I first got on-line, in addition to e-mail, I thought the webs greatest asset was to give me more information about the things I loved.  I still remember the first first nights I got on-line.  I'd been on the net at school, but I'm talking about the first night, alone, searching for info and pictures on my favorite celebrities, movies and events.

It didn't take long before I realized info on subjects I was already familiar with wasn't the best use of the net's capabilities, discovering new subjects of interest was the real bonus of the web.  Over the years, I've featured many of the media men who had an impact on my life while growing up.  I've also re-discovered many actors and films who although had an impact, were long buried and forgotten.  My favorite subjects however, often end up being new movies, tv shows or men I would never have heard of if not for the Internet.

I've searched hockey players many times over the years.  Hot hockey players, shirtless hockey players, naked hockey players.   My love of hockey, and hockey players, began not by watching, but with my years playing the game.  I've written before, that if it wasn't for those damned 5 am Saturday morning practices, I may not have quit.  I loved playing the game, maybe more on frozen lakes than rinks.

To me, hockey players are the hottest athletes.  They require both strength and agility, you can't hide  a lack of skill and speed by playing left field, in hockey, regardless of the position, you have to always be on.  Hockey players have great bodies, not to thin, muscular, but not usually not overly muscular.  They also have the hottest asses.  All those skating drills during those early morning practices, really work the glutes.

Strip hockey:  Brede Csiszar loses, but we win!

Hockey players also to me, have great faces.  Now, maybe they don't, but because they're usually covered with helmets and masks, when a sweaty hockey player takes off their helmet, a great face, (even if a tooth or two is missing) is a beautiful thing.

In all my years of searching hot hockey players, the net tragically never directed me to Iskrigerne.  Iskrigerne is Sweden's elite ice hockey team and although they never popped up in any of my searches thanks to Dreamcap, and poster Michael Andrews73a, we've finally been introduced!

In addition to being the name of the team, Iskrigerne is also the name of a Docusoap (reality show) airing on Norway's tv2.no.  The show, which began in 2014, aired for four seasons, the last episode, airing in 2017.  Although the show was focused on the game, it also went behind the scenes with the players and took frequent trips into the locker room.  It also followed the guys during their semi-regular games of strip hockey, to their underwear and nude shoots to promote the team and the show.  If you're a member of Dreamcap, you can see many more of Michael Andrews73a's great caps and clips there.  If not, there are quite a few great images on the teams Facebook Page HERE:

With Glowing Hearts We See Thee Rise

Hockey, more contact than football, better eye-hand coordination than baseball
and more skills than soccer all coming together ON ICE!

You can't think of sports and Canada without thinking of Hockey. Call me grateful it's still hockey as I'm not sure I could have found enough images to fill a post with the naked hotties of curling. Over the ten years working on FH I have featured a number of hockey themed pieces. Both models in hockey gear and real hockey players mostly out of their gear. I played hockey for a few years, and still get get excited during the playoff's.

Many models have put on, and taken off their jock straps for hockey themed posts, including the come from behind beauty of Cole Monahan. (above) There have also been more than a few photographers who use the theme regularly in their work, often featuring their model in goalie gear, I guess maybe to symbolize getting ready for an incoming.

I included a few of my favorite shots of models in (and out) of hockey gear on page 2 (HERE:) but for the remainder of this post, I wanted the real thing, and to head into the locker room with candid shots of real players hanging out before and after the game.

As a gay kid playing hockey, locker rooms were both an exciting and a dangerous place. My memories of locker rooms hit all of my senses, especially the sights and smells. For me, the sounds were usually muffled, I didn't hear much as I was focused on making my way through the changing area and showers without bringing on any unwanted attention.

In order to do so, I usually looked straight ahead, restricting naked players to the peripheral. I think if I had been out at the time, I would have felt more relaxed to enjoy a gaze or two, but at the time, my fear of being outed drove my behavior. That's not to say I don't have some fond memories of team mates in jock straps and in the shower, but I was always on the move when in the locker room, so my memories are mostly drive by recollections as I changed or headed out to the shower or out the door.

I have also have found memories of the smell. Contrary to what most think, locker rooms, especially just after a game, are a mix of sweat, Axe and Old Spice High Endurance. Sweat just after a game can have an almost pleasant aroma, at least it did to me. It was the sweat and smell of that hockey bag, especially a few days later, that brought forth the gag reflex.

I came from a hockey family, we all played and my father coached, and our furnace room was filled with wet hockey gear, not always properly hung to dry. I don't remember too many dinners when my bother didn't complain about the hockey gear, and the smell, my brother and I needed to 'take care of.' I miss playing hockey, the locker room and the excitement of entering the rink on game night. I don't miss getting up a 4a.m on Saturday for practice, or... that hockey bag, with wet, three day old gear.

If you want to spend a little more time in the locker room, there are some additional shots on Page 2 HERE:

He Shoots He Scores: Colin by Chris Teel

'My goal... is to deny yours'

I have a long history with hockey. Playing, watching, going to my brothers games. My father coached for awhile, and part of being accepted in my family was to get up at 5a.m on Saturday mornings and head to the rink. When I got to high school, I found an 'out', another sport. Although I didn't practice basketball on Saturday mornings, I did after school and my family didn't argue when I switched from hitting a puck, to throwing a ball into a net.

Hockey remained in my blood though. My brothers and their friends were always in our rec room watching it. To fit in, I watched with them and ended up loving the game. Although I basically only watch the play offs these days, there is still something about cold rinks, sweaty hockey gear and early Saturday mornings that hold a special place in my heart.

If you search 'hockey' on FH you find many posts related to the sport. Hockey players that I like, hockey players who model, hockey players who should model ,models posing in hockey gear and models wearing absolutely nothing but a hockey mask.

Featuring the work of Toronto based photographer Chris Teel is always a privilege. It should also not be too surprising that the Canadian photographer's latest shoot features a Canadian model honouring the countries most popular sport.

'As a typical rural county Canadian boy, I grew up in a hockey rink. The sound of slap shots, the sparks of the skate sharpener and rumble of the Zamboni have been part of my DNA since the age of 3. I skated my way through all levels of minor hockey up to and including Tier 2 junior A.'
Colin

'I found Colin on Instagram which has started to become my go-to for new models. I'd noticed Colin's comment on one of his shots that, at his age, he was in the best shape of his life and I reached out to him to document his peak physique. It was clear that hockey was and is his passion and I thought it would be great to incorporate that into the shoot. Colin is multi-faceted with a number of talents and I'm sure we will capture more of those in upcoming shoots!'

Chris clearly tapped into Colin's passion for the sport, along with the intensity and physical demands and strength required to play the game. Colin's has a incredibly solid, and incredibly hot body, clearly formed from years of building his stamina and pushing limits. Although my athletic trajectory to me from the ice to a basketball court, Colin's journey was just the opposite.

'At 6ft 5 inches tall, my high school physical education teacher thought I would make a good basketball player but much to his dismay I couldn't run and dribble at the same time. However at 6ft 9 inches in skates, I am a naturally coordinated right defenseman.'
Colin

Although Colin says that hockey has always been his friend, it has not always been so friendly on his body. Through torn knee ligaments, sprained ankles, concussions and the odd punch in a fight, Colin says together, it taught him strategy, discipline and most importantly, teamwork.

'I maybe not as pretty as a soccer player but i have earned every stitch and scar along the way. For the past 30 years, Toronto has enriched me with an education in culture, diversity, community and beer. I live and love my city life. My kids keep me grounded. My family keeps me on course. My friends keep me reminded.'

One of the last things Colin wrote for this piece was a thank you to Chris for allowing him the opportunity to take a chance and to do something he'd never done before, especially in his 50th year of empowerment. First off, given how confident, sexy and put together Colin presents in his images, it is hard to believe this is his first time working professionally in front of the camera. I am sure part of this was due to how how skilled Chris is, and how hard he works to have his models feel comfortable and look their best in front of his lens.

But 50? I would have guessed from his images that Colin was in his late 30's or early to mid 40's, Clearly all that time on the ice has done his body good, very good.  Thanks to Chris for sharing his latest work with FH, and thanks to Colin, for peeling off his hockey gear and sharing the results of all of his years of shooting, and scoring.
