L'escalier vers l'enfer

'There's some stupid killer stalking some big-breasted girl who can't act who is always running up the stairs when she should be running out the front door. It's insulting.'

With Halloween under 10 days away, it's time to begin FH's October Halloween and horror themed posts.  If you haven't guessed already, I'm beginning with one of the season's, and the movies, classic horror themed tropes, the spook staircase.  Scream 'final girl' Sidney Prescott was right about characters stupidly running up the stairs, but it's not just big-breasted girls.  Horror's hot himbos often make the same mistake, not to mention their pesky need to have sex one last time before being stabbed, gutted or dismembered.

Today's theme was inspired by the many horror movies I've seen with spooking staircases, and both their actual, and sometimes subliminal meaning in the story.  Staircases often represent a journey, one with the ups and downs of life.  A jou4n3y where ascending can symbolize a positive or upward movement (like achieving goals or knowledge) and descending can signify a more negative or conflict,  Freud thought staircases represented a sexual journey, and there's also the sexual connections with reaching the top, or hitting the bottom.

Today's posts were inspired by many artists, models and movies, initially with photographer Bob Burkhardt and his staircase shoot with Victor.  I was also inspired by model Harry Caudill.  Although Harry's hotness is always inspirational, especially in these images through the lens of TR Pics.  It wasn't an image of Harry that had me reaching out to him however, but the short scary staircase Halloween video he posted on his Instagram. (Below)

Over the next two pages you'll see many hot men, going up, and coming down flights of stairs.  If you head on over to PAGE 2 HERE:, you'll also see some of my favorite staircase themed posts from the past, as well as a tribute to one of my favorite storytellers and staircase shooters who sadly just recently took his painful last steps.

Descending and ASScending: Victor by Bob Burkhardt

'What an excellent day for an exorcism.'
The Demon

One of the touchtone tropes of spooky staircases, especially in horror films, is their function as a portal to either Heaven or Hell.  To reach Heaven, you must ascend, going to Hell, means a terrifying decention.  Goodness rises, evil falls.   There are so many horrifying moments in film which include a flight of stairs.  One in particular came to mind when I saw this series from photographer Bob Burkhardt.

Last month, I featured images from the second shoot between bob and the incredibly hot, and clearly incredibly limber Victor. (HERE:)  When I was going through the images Bob sent on, I put these aside knowing they'd be perfect for the spooky season.  Now, I'm pretty sure that neither Bob nor Victor planned this series as either horror, or Halloween themed.  They're creative goals more about pose, and showing off one of Victor's most magnificent body parts.

'The climbing up the stairs was my idea and the climbing down was Victor's. He really wanted to feature his butt in the last session and I was happy to comply. The climbing down shots were not easy for Victor given the physicality of the pose. I was especially happy with the descending shots.'

'The stairs idea came about when I came across these shots by photographer Erick Monterrosa. I loved the unique posing of the model against the environment - they were very seductive and I especially liked the view that draws attention to the backside. Bob was very receptive to trying the idea too. Although we weren't quite able to recreate it to a tee because the layout and stairs were different, it was still a fun experimentation.'

As heavenly as Victor looks sitting on the stairs, and as enticing as he and his butt  look climbing up them, I was having more demonic thoughts when I saw the series.   The images, especially the last two below, with Victor descending the steps on his hands reminded me of a terrifying scene from 1973's The Exorcist.

I love 1970's horror, and when I first saw this movie, I was just a kid, watching it on television at a friend's house.  I remember my friend's mother laughing at how scared we were, and that the viewing sparks at least a month's worth of nightmares.  If anyone remembers the 'stair' scene, it featured a possessed Regan descending a staircase with a demonic spider  walk with her head upside down.  (you can watch the scene on Youtube HERE:)

The images below of Victor's 'spider walk' are certainly more seductive than sinister. Victor's unique poses however, and angles Bob captured, certainly conjured for me, so many scenes of demons and monsters descending a spooky staircase, one specific iconic scene in particular.

Brumal is Brewing: Victor by Bob Burkhardt

'This entire shoot was a dream.'

I recently found myself watching the pilot of Game Of Thrones.  I say 'found myself' as I didn't really plan on it, but while skimming my streaming services, saw the cover art for the first season.  It's been awhile since I watched and had forgotten some of the stories and characters in the show's early episodes.

Why you might ask, am I referencing this particular television show for this post, well, it's most classic line of course.  'Winter is Coming' first said by Ned Stark in the pilot, became trademark catchphrase for the show.  In part, I think of the symbolism of hardship ahead.  It is also something very relatable for so many who experience harsh winters.  Where I live, there are four distinct seasons, and we begin preparing, and especially talking, about seasons as they approach.

Summer is already slipping away and signs of Autumn, and even winter, are already in the air.  They're also annoyingly in the stores.  Given my passion for each unique season, FH viewers know I follow the weather, and the seasonal visuals on the site.  My 'seasonal sightings' themed posts are maybe the most visible example, but I also try to shadow the seasons in my photographer and models features.

I rarely post beach, or summer related posts in the Autumn and winter, and when I post a location shoot, the photographers and nude models are usually battling the cold, surrounded by fall foliage and the elements of winter.  It was for this reason, Brumal, (wintery) is brewing inspired the choice of images for today's feature post.

This past March, I had the pleasure of spotlighting photographer Bob Burkhardt and his work with Canadian model Victor. (All Good Things...)  I savored being introduced to Bob's work with Victor and was loved seeing they'd gotten together to shoot again this past summer.   Bob often shoots the male form utilizing the natural light from the windows in his studio. For this shoot however, I also loved seeing the shadows from the sky and tree's, and the warmth from the sun cascading over Victor's beautiful body and unique colors within his body art.

The first time Bob and Victor collaborated, it was during the dead of winter, so the images in the first piece were all shot in Bob's studio.  For this midsummer shoot, they were able to venture outside to soak up the sun and shadows of a warm summer afternoon. The second shoot wasn't limited to only the outside location,.  Bob and Victor also again shot in studio, and in a few unique locations that I'm looking forward to featuring later.  With Brumal a brewing however, I wanted to feature this set before the September equinox arrives.

How did the second shoot come about?

We both enjoyed working together on our first shoot and Victor, who is beginning his modeling career, expressed an interest in working together again

After our first shoot together, I loved the experience of working with Bob so much that a second shoot was inevitable .I might have even mentioned it before our first shoot was over haha. I'm glad Bob felt the same way!

What did you want accomplish in this shoot you didn't in the first?

Bob
I've often found my second shoots with a model to better. We both know each other and are more relaxed. This shoot felt more intimate.

Victor:
We discussed shooting outdoors, so the plan was for me to arrive during nicer summer weather - our first time earlier this year was in February, and it was winter and more overcast. We also planned to take more erotic photos.

Did you notice any differences in working together from the first to the second shoot?

Bob:
I noticed Victor was more confident and relaxed. His modeling skills had improved. Definitely more smiles this shoot.

Victor:
Yes! Bob mentioned I was a lot more at ease with the camera and I think it definitely shows. We had a lot of fun with our erotic shots and experimented with different ideas (some didn't turn out photos-wise, like inserting a chain necklace up my hole). It was still a lot of fun to try and the majority of the photos were a success.

Where did the outside shoot take place?

Bob:
The outdoor shoot was at a friend's home. I'd shot there once before. It's hard to find outdoor locations where one can do outdoor work. The only downside was that it got very hot, very quickly. We only shot for about 20 mins.

Victor:
The idea of shooting outdoors was my request, so Bob did his best to find an arrangement that would allow that to happen. A good friend of his was lovely and let us use his lush backyard as our space. It was a contained environment so we didn't have to consider prying eyes.

What was your favorite moment or part of this shoot with Victor.

Bob:
This entire shoot was a dream. Victor, who lives in Calgary, stayed with us for three days. It was like having a model on call. We could shoot in different locations in my house and different times of the day. And again, we were both more comfortable with each other. We have plans to shoot again next year, here and in Provincetown

Victor:
I loved Bob's classic natural light shots in his bedroom studio, and the rapport I've built with him has been my favorite part. I hope to do a third shoot with him next year at a nude beach in Provincetown.

All Good Things..... Victor by Bob Burkhardt

'Working with Bob was an incredible experience..'

Having worked on FH for so long, I've had to practice my patience.  I'm not a naturally patient person, everyone who knows me well would verify that.   When it comes to the site, it means that whenever I see an image I'm drawn to, I immediately want to contact the artist or model about featuring the shot or shoot.  Over the years however, I've tended to go to the well a little often.  I know there are a handful, (or maybe more) photographers and models who roll their eyes when they see yet another e-mail, and another request, in their inbox.

When I first saw photographer Bob Burkhardt post images from his work with Victor last month, I was instantly captivated.  I loved how Bob captured Victor's beautiful body and the calm,  but powerful sensuality in every shot.  There were many factors which contributed to the look and feel, for me, primarily Bob's use of light, along with Victor's beautifully expressive eyes.

I also loved the Canadian model's body art, especially large, colorful serpent slithering across his back. The snake is especially apropos given we recently just celebrated Lunar New Year with the year of the snake on the Chinese zodiac.   I wanted to get in touch with Bob right away, but decided to use a little patience.  I'd  bugged Bob more than a few times last fall and early winter, and didn't want to be too pushy.

Bob didn't make it easy however, as he tested my patience by regularly posting more incredible shots of Victor. Just as my patience was beginning to wane, voila, a message appeared in my inbox from Bob, asking if I was interested in featuring his work with Victor.  Sometimes good things do come to those who wait.   Now, the issue was which of the close to 200 images from the shoot do I choose!

When I was narrowing down images for this piece, it was actually the snake on Victor's back, and in the front, his beautiful face and eyes, that helped make the choices a little easier.  There is often one feature that instantly grabs my attention, and with Victor, it was definitely his beautiful, large brown eyes. I especially love how Bob so beautifully captured Victor's eyes and face, and his beautiful body, with the light from the window.

'Victor was a dream to work with and to get to know. I was thrilled that he chose to fly in from Canada to work with me. He wasn’t terribly experienced but he was easy to work with and needed little direction. We hope to work together again in the next few months. '

The Carnality of Cotton: Victor by Bob Burkhardt

'As someone who felt like I hit a wall with my own personal art, I was intrigued at the idea of using my body to create the art itself.'

For some reason, this series had me thinking about towels, and how connected they were to so many sexual awakenings.  For many of us, hot men in towels were a gateway to our love of the male form.  We saw hot men in towels on TV and in movies, we saw athletes in towels after competitions, and we saw men, just a few feet away in the locker room, donned only in a towel.

How many of us, some still in the closet, shot quick, but secret glances at those towel wearing hotties.  Hopping the cotton or terry cloth might reveal a hint of what was underneath.   Sometimes we were rewarded, when some guys, who appeared confident and bold, dropped their towels, seemingly not caring who might be watching and enjoying.  When I was a kid, I used to keep my towel tightly wrapped, not because I was ashamed of my body, but because I knew my developing erection, would give me away.

I don't hold that towel as closely today.  First off, I'm older, and have a bit more control over my body, and it's reaction to visual stimulation.  Well, most of my body, I still tend to blush when I'm around someone I find attractive.   Secondly, quick glances in the locker room are a mostly a thing of the past.  Although I may still take a peak now and then, I'm not in locker rooms as much as I was when I was younger, and there are many other options and places for sensual stimulation.  Thankfully, we don't have to wish for a towel slip from Victor.  Photographer Bob Burkhardt choose the colored towels are not to necessarily cover, but to contrast and highlight Victors features and beautiful body.

When, and why did you decide to start modeling?
I started to model in 2023 as an outlet for self expression outside of my day-to-day. As someone who felt like I hit a wall with my own personal art, I was intrigued at the idea of using my body to create the art itself. It first manifested in the form of tattoos and eventually modelling. Besides photography, I've modelled a few times for life drawing studios and that helped me grow the confidence I needed.

I also found it a really unique way of capturing myself at a point in my life behind someone's lens. It was a freeze frame of that unique moment in my life, whether or not it was obvious to anyone but myself.

Was modeling nude originally part of the plan?
Yes! I used to be extremely shy, but over time I've become very comfortable with my body. I was always intrigued by exhibitionism and voyeurism. I do enjoy expressing myself in a more erotic context, but over time I've become drawn to artistic nudes and the intrigue of showing just enough to leave the viewer guessing.

Did you have any factors you had to weigh prior to your first shoot?
For my very first time in front of the camera, it was the nerves of putting myself on such a vulnerable display with a worry that people I knew might end up seeing the photos. I still think about that, but I've reached a level of comfort where that no longer worries me.

How did you feel seeing your first nude on-line?
It was exciting and pretty empowering. I loved the experience of being nude and expressing myself through my body for all to see. Before that it felt vulnerable and scary, but afterwards I felt much stronger and sure of myself.

What has been the response, have you had any positive feedback?
Happy to say yes, the response has been great! I still have a lot to learn about completely immersing myself as a model and being able to approach a shoot with total confidence. As a Chinese man, I am always aware of the challenges of falling into a niche when it comes to mainstream standards. The great feedback I've gotten so far has been very encouraging and helped me realize I just need to keep being true to myself.

Do you have any boundaries when it comes to what you're comfortable shooting?
I am very open minded and love everything from tasteful nudity to erotic. Although I still feel shyness creeping in from time-to-time, I've tried some bolder things like modelling fully nude on an overpass, or on a Brooklyn rooftop in a busy neighborhood. I've also tried modelling with a partner which I'd love to explore again.

How did you connect with Bob?
We connected through ModelMayhem - I loved the candid, natural lighting of his photography and was humbled that a seasoned photographer like Bob expressed interest in working with me. I booked a trip over as soon as possible!

Did you discuss any themes, ideas before the shoot?
Bob had ideas for poses and outfits which I loved. I posed wearing a variety of underwear and sportswear on the bed and against a wall by the window to capture the natural light. Some of my favorite shots involve me wearing his white onesie, where the pose shows just enough to be sensual, but leaving enough covered to create some mystery and entice the viewer.

What is the best part about working with Bob?
Bob was an absolute pleasure to work with! He was respectful, patient and put me at complete ease for the shoot. Working with Bob was an incredible experience.

Any stories about your tats you can share?
The snake tattoo represents my zodiac sign, and embracing the good and the bad (hot-headed but thoughtful, observant, determined and caring.) The snake also represents shedding my skin, always transforming and growing throughout my life. I also have tats that are just simply things that give me joy, like my leg tattoo of a dog eating noodles.
