Spring Training: Victor by Trevor Green

'Victor was a dream to shoot with. He has a beautiful body and an equally beautiful spirit.'

I know many FH viewers recognize Victor.  His handsome face, and beautifully sculpted and art adorned body are undeniably memorable!  I've featured Victor's work with photographer Bob Burkhart multiple times over the last year. (HERE:)  Some long time viewers might also remember my previous features spotlighting the work of Atlanta based photographer Trevor Green. I was fortunate to have featured Trevor's work several times in the 2010's. (HERE:)

Trevor and Bob have known each other for years, and are both friends and creative collaborators. Beyond this, Bob also points to Trevor was one of his artistic inspirations.   Given their long standing relationship, they've shared studio space, and collaborated several times for art and gallery exhibitions.  They've also from time to time, let each other know when they worked with a model who especially impressed them and energized their artistry.  Victor, was one of those models.

'Bob shot with Victor first. Every time he would mention Victor, he always finished with - you have to shoot with him and that we would get a long perfectly. Bob was right, when Victor walked through the door, it was like I knew him for a long time. I also knew looking at him That it was going to be great. I felt so good going into it.'

I first noticed Trevor's work with Victor a few months ago.  I loved the images I saw from this shoot, the location, the poses, and the fun Victor seemed to be having.  Given Victor's robust exhibitionist side, I could imagine that Victor enjoyed being naked in a public baseball field.

I loved the visual story that Trevor and Victor told with their images, but of course, there was more to the story that I wanted to know about.  Shooting nudes in a ballfield not only had me intrigued, but raised so many questions....  Fortunately, both Trevor and Victor  took the time to generously fill me in on all the behind the scenes details to quench my curiosity.

Believe it or not, I have shot there a few times. The light is amazing there. There are so many spots there to get different but cohesive looks. It’s an amazing spot.

Trevor had ideas for studio shots (which were great! I hope to work together again next time I visit Atlanta), but once he learned my interest for an outdoor shoot, we pivoted quickly to a theme and location he had in mind with a baseball dugout. The only piece of fashion we brought was a jockstrap- we would use whatever else was available on site.

Trevor
I wanted to know what he was comfortable with doing. I felt we were on the same page. I usually try to concept about three ideas when I shoot someone new. So, I have a back up, if they are not interested in one or two of the ideas. I knew I wanted to shoot something outside. Victor lit up and was very excited when I told him the concept.

Location, location,location....

Victor;
It was great! The first part of the shoot was in the sheltered dugout before we moved out into the open.
We had to keep a lookout for people coming into the park. It was midday on a hot summer day, so we were lucky the park wasn't too busy. The shots on the diamond were very risky though. There were people passing through, and a lady was walking laps around the park. We had to hide in the dugout whenever she appeared in view.

Trevor:
It is a public baseball field. There is also the work out station and basketball courts.  The shots out on the field were taken When people would be on the other side to the field. Run out shoot some and run back. We laughed a lot. I don’t suggest this.

There were people there. Working out. Running around the track. Victor had to pull up his shorts every time someone would walk by. We would shoot for about 5/10 minutes and then stop for people to go by and start again. Lol We would shoot - all of a sudden freeze in place, Look at each other and whisper “did you hear somebody? Is someone coming?  “Pull up your pants!”

Favorite Part of the shoot?

Victor:
Working with intense natural light beating down on us was a challenge, but Trevor made it work! He guided me through the poses and using my surroundings as props, the rest fell into place organically.

I loved Trevor's open mindedness about the outdoor shoot. Shooting nudes in a public space felt very vulnerable, powerful and exciting. He was an absolute pleasure to work with.

Trevor:
I ended up getting so many images that are beyond great. Plus it was a wonderful time. I kept thinking about future shoots, saying 'next time let’s do this, next time let’s do this. 'While I was shooting him, more ideas for future shoots kept coming.

My favorite part of the shoot was Victor!  He is so open and he delivers. I said “What do you think about going to a baseball field and getting naked? He replies “Awesome!” How cool is that? A photographers dream. I know there will be more shoots to come with victor. I feel like I made a friend as well.

Push Hard: Ricardo Arroyo by Trevor Green

'Are you ready to fight for what belongs to you?'

When it comes to fitness, especially fitness training and advice, it can be difficult to know exactly who to put your trust in. The best in the business know, that although most are looking to change how they look, the most important part of any change is altering self perception.

Atlanta fitness model Ricardo Arroyo receive's his greatest satisfaction not just with the dropping of pounds, but with each step taken, and each goal achieved. Born and raised in Guayaquil Ecuador, for as long as he remember, Ricardo was on the move. Military school kept him active with sports and a love of soccer and volleyball has continued. Ricardo played in the semi-pro league in New Jersey but also loves dancing as a way to keep moving. Currently studying marketing, Ricardo says that nothing he has experienced inspires more passion and devotion in him than fitness.

'I love to see other people train, not just for looks, but because every time they do it, they are a step closer to their goals. I wish I could say that all of the goals I have achieved were all thanks to me, but I can't. Everyone around me helped me reach my goals, by motivating me, cheering me on and feeling inspired when they see my pics or videos.'

Those pics and video's are essential for Ricardo as it is that visual that is evidence of what the person has to offer. These photographs from photographer and images maker Trevor Green, beautifully illustrate not just the hard work, sweat and the dedication Ricardo has dedicated towards his own health and body but images also have a motivational, yet fun way of inspiring others to want the same for themselves. As an art director for an ad agency in Atlanta, Trevor describes his influences from the fashion world including master photographers, Dahl-wolfe, Horst, and Avedon, as well as the top current leaders, Bruce Webber, Herb Ritts and David La Chapelle, as well as some of favorites on here.

It is great to have Trevor's work again on the blog, the last time we collaborated on a piece for FH was back in 2011 so it great to have his images, especially of Ricardo to share. I have always love how Trevor creatively weaves together the physical strength of his models with aspects of their personality, often adding a bit of fun and playfulness. So many fitness images have models looking so series, often with almost a pained look on their faces. Through Trevor's lens, Ricardo looks like someone you would not only learn from, but enjoy spending time with.

Rick Click & Save: Jabbar Hicks by Trevor Green

'Being able to put a smile on people’s faces because of my body, and the different artistic images is what I live for. I have always imagined being on someone’s wall, calendar or the background for their phones or computers.'

In the hands of skilled and supportive artist, a models nerves, even shyness can be photographed beautiful and even erotic. When however, a model appears uncomfortable, visibly unhappy, a if he was dragged to the shoot kicking and screaming, that uncomfortable feeling is usually shared by the viewer. That is certainly not the case with model Jabbar Hicks who completely naked in front of the camera, seems clearly at ease. Many models seem almost offended their work is enjoyed and saved, and it is refreshing to hear a model relish being right clicked and saved.

Jabbar exudes not only self confidence, but a coolness with just a hint of sexy cockyiness. It is not at all arrogant, just a self assuredness that comes through his beautiful and playful eyes. Jabbar has reason to feel confident, his background and experience have given him both the physical and emotional strength to face whatever comes his way. The 31 year old Atlanta model spent 8 years in the United States Marine Corps as a Parachute Rigger. An injury ended his years in the service, but did not end his desire for all things adventurous and new.

'The summer is my favorite season, only because it gives me reason to wear as little clothing as possible.'

Photographer Trevor Green's images, and Jabbar's philosophy on the season are just two more reasons to long for summer! Trevor says working with Jabbar was amazing and despite the confidence, he is actually very humble, is a true artists model and shares in Trevor's vision of the work. 'Jabbar has become a muse, in fact this weekend we are working together again, doing a body painting session.' I will keep you informed if Trevor shares a part 2 from the weekend....

Window of Opportunity: Lawrence Portland by Bob Burkhardt

'Lawrence had a last minute trip to Atlanta and we managed to squeeze in a shoot.'

As most of us eventually learn, especially as we get older, opportunity doesn't knock forever. Sometimes it occurs just once, or maybe a few times and before it gone, often then lost forever. So many images, models and shoots that I have featured over the years, only occurred due to opportunity. A specific time and place when model and photographer are in the same city at the same time with openings in their schedules. That is exactly what led to this set of images.

Many of you might remember model and adult film actor Lawrence Portland from my pieces last year. (Smooth Sailing) Since discovering Lawrence on Instagram last year, I have been a fan of his images, Instagram videos and the many daily activities he utilizes to connect with his followers. Lawrence is of course incredibly hot, but he exudes both an intense sensuality, along with a down to earth vibe that are incredibly sexy when blended together.

I remember when choosing images for Lawrence's piece on FH, thinking he and photographer Bob Burkhardt would be a perfect create fit if they ever worked together. Bob has shot a lot of different types of models of various ages and body types, including many models who appear in porn. Bob always manages to pull out a quiet sensual side to the men he shoots, even with very erotic poses in varying degrees of arousal. Bob always shoot his models fully, capturing the beauty and intensity by focusing on the entirety of the moment.

It was a whirlwind Atlanta weekend which led to the opportunity for Lawrence and Bob to get together. Lawrence Was in Atlanta shooting scenes and doing scene work but managed to schedule a few modeling shoots during the few breaks he had in between filming. Lawrence had also been in touch with photographer Trevor Green who knew Bob and his husband leading to Lawrence to snag an invite to their gallery event on Saturday.

The following day, Lawrence shot with Trevor in the morning, spent the afternoon shooting with Bob and managed to fit in even another shoot later Sunday evening!  Bob describes Lawrence as both a great model, as well as just being a wonderful man. They had talked for awhile about shooting together but it wasn't until this buy weekend before opportunity knocked. Given how long they had been planning to shoot, neither Lawrence or Bob wanted to pass the opportunity up.
