John Laughlin: Shower Scenes

The wet naked butt in the Footloose shower scene actually belonged to actor John Laughlin. (Sometimes credited as John C. McLaughlin). As beautifully shaped as his butt is, Laughlin has a great facial structure, very distinctive, even in many of the recent images I saw on his IMDB Page.

Laughlin got his start in Hollywood in the late 70's, and in one of his early roles, his beautiful face was sadly completely covered in a Imperial Stormtrooper helmet.  No, Laughlin didn't appear in any of the Star Wars movies, but he did have the distinction of playing a Stormtrooper in the often maligned 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special.

Producers wisely decided Laughlin's face should be seen, and the actor worked steadily through the eighties on television in shows including; The White Shadow, The Dukes of Hazard and  Trapper John M.D, and movies including; An Officer and a Gentlemen, The Hills Have Eyes 2, The Lawnmower Man and Crimes of Passion.

When I was looking for a copy of the shower scene from Footloose, one of the posters on the old Celebrity Database site swore they could see Laughlin's penis in the shower scene.  From the DVD version that I had, there was no way an edit would allow a frontal.  Thankfully, I knew exactly where to look to find a copy of the scene from the VHS version.

VHS

Scenes of Male Skin of course had a old clip from the VHS release, which indeed is edited very differently, showing much more of Laughlin's lower half.  There is indeed an opportunity to see John's junk, but as you can see, it's dark, and not really clear in the old clip.  I suppose it's possible it was more visible when seen on the big screen, so if anyone else has fond memories of seeing the film on the big screen, love to hear what you remember.

DVD

Although Laughlin is more clearly scene in the DVD clip and caps, the edit is again another great example of male skin we've lost when movies get edited for DVD.  Even when changing the aspect ratio, so many scenes are edited to remove male bodies.  I've explored this several times on the site, including last year when I posted the differences between the VHS and DVD versions of Porky's. Thankfully, Laughlin did give us at least one another chance to view his beautiful butt, in 1984's Crimes of Passion.  Check out caps in SKIN part of the post below.
