Luke G: Weather Or Not...

Many people who don't live where the winter's is winter, might think the weather is seasonally consistent.  It used to be that it cold in December and remained mostly below freezing until late February or early March.  It's not that way anymore...

Over the last 10 or 12  years, hastened by climate change, there are few days in the winter that are the same.  It's freezing cold one day, then spring like the next.  It shows one week, then rains the next.  There are many days when it rains, the temperature drops at night leaving everything an icy mess.  

A few years ago, the regular thaw then freeze was so bad, the town where I live gave up on trying to get rid of the ice.  It was inches, even feet thick and the sidewalks and many roads were coated for months. We were simply told there was little public works could do, and we were all warned to be careful, and to wait until spring for it to finally melt. 

When model and artist Luke G. headed out in late December to capture winter shots for FH, it was freezing cold with the forest blanketed in s now.  It was then, Luke dunked his beautiful backside into the snow.   When he went out again in January, to complete the set, most of the snow had melted and the woods were a mushy, muddy mess. 

'It's not a usual winter, but with the loss of snow it's a bit more bearable out for creating. Where it lacks in appeal with snow being visible in the photos, leaves me an opportunity to be almost as free as I can be in the warmer months. That being said, snow or no snow, the creating will not stop for me.'

What inspired your first 'winter' shoot? 

It was just the need to still be out creating, the thought of sitting idle all winter sounded awful haha 

Do you know the coldest temp it's been while you've been shooting nude? 

I think my record is around 10°?  Which definitely isn't a good idea for how much time self portraits take, but again it stems from not being able to sit still. 

What body part gets the coldest, your fingers, toes or another extremity? 

Generally my fingers get it the worst, since I'm not only posing but having to adjust the camera as such. My toes and everything else seems to handle the temperature better. 

If you could pick one word for that split second your butt hits and is emersed in snow,....

One word? Mistake hahaha but that feeling is quickly replaced by success when I've seen I've gotten the image. 

Have you ever gotten sick from shooting in the cold? 

Oh a handful of times, comes with the territory. Jumping your bodies internal temperature back and forth is bound to bring about a cold. Generally I just weigh the pros and cons of how much it's worth it. 

Do your families, friends or girlfriend know you shoot naked in the snow? If so, do they think your crazy or support your art? 

They all know, but it seems they try to pretend that I don't do it. My friends and family just find it very odd since they don't understand. Sometimes my girlfriend gets weary because I'm naked for the world to see, just takes reminding that it's both art and therapy to me.

One of the reasons FH attempts to follow the seasons is the visual diversity. During the summer, it's fairly easy to find models and photographers shooting under the same blue skies, and utilizing the sun's midsummer light and heat. I love great summer shots, on the beach or by the lake, but weather has always fascinated me, and I love when weather and season are fused within images of the male form.

I love models posing with dark, ominous skies, in the rain, in the wind and in each of the four seasons. I know some photographers feel their options are limited when the temperature goes down, and sunlight is decreased, but visually, other doors are open. Some of my favorite shoots on the site were shot under the golden Autumn sun, dark cloudy skies, or pouring rain or snow. Now, not all models are as eager to drop their drawers when it's freezing outside, but thankfully there are a few that are not only up for, but embrace the challenge.

The first time I featured model and photographer Luke G, he was surrounded by the fall colors on a crisp November day. (Autumnus) Since the, I've enjoyed following and sharing Luke's self shots in each of the year's four season. Living in Northern Michigan, Luke encounters the extreme heat of summer and the frigid winter cold and snow. Luke braved the cold late last year to take these exclusive shots for FH just as Michigan was on the brink of winter.

With outdoor shoots, I love how models interact with both their environment, and the elements.  As you can see, Luke didn't just pose on the snow, he said down in it, giving himself a cold swooshing in a mother nature created icy bidet.   Luke acknowledged the was cold and hard, but you have to applaud him for his commitment to his art.   Thankfully Luke got himself back inside and warmed up before any frost bite could set in.

Luke G: Indoor/Outdoor

I know many FH viewers have been enjoying my recent pieces featuring the work of model and artist Luke G.  I've been fortunate to feature Luke's work many times over the years, but this year, Luke headed into the woods several times to shoot for FH.  I love the shots of Luke outdoors, and truly appreciate his baring the cold to get such spectacular shots. Luke even got a bit sick after one of his naked shoots in the snow, but pushed on to finish the shoot.

I love Luke's work, especially his nature nudes.  Luke blends his skill both as a model and as an artist to create beautifully striking visuals. What I also love about them is how organic they they are.  Simple is often considered a bad word, people use it at times to describe something easy or uncomplicated.  With Luke's, the simplistic in his work only enhances his work's beauty.

I asked Luke to do some holiday shots, so in these images, he's donning a Santa hat and is garnished in glittery Christmas garland.  Usually however, Luke is garnished in nothing, it's just him with the forest as his background.  Luke creates the look, sets up the shot, places the camera and strikes a sensual pose.  No worries about co-ordinating with anyone but mother nature.

This Christmas, Luke created shots both outside, and inside.  For some reason, this had me thinking about Christmas, and how much things have changed over the years.  There was a time, if you wanted gift someone with a naked selfie, you had to own one of those big old fashion instant cameras.  You had to hold them yourself, so it the erotic results were usually blurry close-ups of your genitals.  Today, artists like Luke, can use their skill and artistry to plan and created incredible shots.  Not necessarily easier, but simpler, with much better results.

'I wanted to do something Christmas theme, I not only wanted bold, but with a smidge of playfulness to it. Giving Santa some more scandalous aspect. After all, naughty or nice is merely a matter of perspective.'

Despite how much we complain, most things in life are actually much easier than they were when our parents and grandparent were growing up.  Christmas in particular, has changed dramatically over the years.  There was a time, the only way to get a Christmas tree, was to head into the woods with an axe.  Find the perfect tree, chop it down and drag it home.  Then... try to get it to stay upright, using one of those old fashioned tree-stands with little screws that went into the base.   It usually didn't work out that well, and ropes were tied around the tree and then attached to a wall.

Today, we can buy tree's at lots or just an pull artificial ones out of a box.  Even today's artificial tree's are a breeze.  No more hours of trying to color coat the ends before sticking into a pole.  Today's fake tree's come already assembled, many are also pre-lit, some even pre-decorated.  The last couple of years, I've noticed that Christmas lights have changed as well.  .This year, couldn't find indoor mini-lights to save my life.  Every store that I went to only had the combo of indoor /outdoor lights for sale.  When I was a kid in the eighties, lights were either one or the other.  It was considered dangerous to use either, where it wasn't intended. 

Call me crazy, but I like a clear  differentiation between my indoor and outdoor decorations.  Maybe it's because for many years, I only decorated outside as I was never home for the holidays. This year, I'm going to be home, so I decorated both indoors and outdoors.  The family I was expecting however, canceled late last week. With the recent spike in Covid numbers, I'm sure many of you will experience the same thing.   My niece and her boyfriend were due to arrive the 23rd.  They were going to stay until the night of the 25th, then head out to visit his family.  

No tree yet, but I was planning on getting one later this week.  I'm glad however, that I took the time to decorate inside and out. My tree will have a mix match of old sets of mini-lights.  I'm not quite ready to bend to the new versions, yet. Luke G: Prewinter

'Every winter has its spring.'

Although winter is officially still a couple of weeks ago, December marked the beginning of meteorological winter.  The meteorological seasons run every three months with meteorological winter starting on December 1st.  Regardless of the date, where I live, winter is here.  Last month, I wrote that we had our first 'skiff' of snow.  A dusting that disappeared by mid-day.  

Last night, it snowed enough to cause me to dig the shovel out of the shed.  I didn't need to do the driveway, but the steps and walkways needed to be cleared off.  Although the 21st will make it official, we're currently experiencing the spring of the upcoming winter.  Given it was my first official day of shoveling, it seemed the perfect time to balance winter's burden with it's beauty.

Last month, I shared images that model and photographer Luke G. shot to help celebrate Autumn on FH. (Autumnity) Today, I'm sharing shots of Luke venturing out in the cold to shoot the first snow of the season. I really appreciate Luke for venturing out for the shoot, especially given he shares that he used to avoid the cold.

The first snow, it's always some of the most beautiful to see. My body is never anywhere near acclimated enough to strip down and hop into it, but that's the love of doing this that I do anyway. It's like I'm forced to by some unknown force. Not to mention how worth it and fantastic the results are.'

Given the incredible shots model and photographer Luke G shot for FH for Christmas, I couldn't resist asking if he'd be up for another set for Valentine's Day. The holiday is traditionally seen as a day to celebrate love between two people in a couple. Most of us however, have spent a February 14th or two without a partner and that doesn't mean the day has to be a total write-off. .

There's absolutely no reason that being alone should mean you that  can't feel, and celebrate the love.  In addition to treating yourself to a good meal, and some chocolate of course, a little self-love, inspired by one of your favorite hunks is always a great way to spend part of the day!  If you want to be inspired a little more by Luke, check out more of Valentine themed images, this time taken outside, on the NEXT PAGE HERE: ❤️

The Witch in the Wood

'Witches escape to the forest to listen to the whispers of nature itself.'

It shouldn't be a surprise to regular FH readers that it's Luke G whose ascending to number se7en in the coven.  Many might be wondering why it took so long. If you've seen my previous posts featuring Luke's work as a model and artist, (HERE:) you know his self-portraits embody so many qualities we associate with a male witch. 

Witches have a special nexus with nature, and most of Luke's self-shoots capture not only his gorgeous face and body, but the surrounding beauty and blessings of the forest.  Luke's images also show his connection to the land he loves.  Luke doesn't just pose in front of the forest, he touches, feels, and interacts with it.

In addition to his connection with nature, and being an eclectic artist and free spirit, there's also Luke's look.  His long lean body captures such elegant poses and his long hair and face exude an almost ethereal aura, mixed in a dash of bohemian, and a sliver of gothic hotness, and you have the ingredients for the consummate conjurer. 

I have to thank Luke for coming through without a lot of prep time.  It was just last week I decided I needed a seventh sorcerer for this Halloween.  With just enough time to order a new hat on-line, Luke headed into the wood to shoot images for his upcoming coven coming.  Luke already owned a wand, and since he wasn't planning on wearing much else, when the hat arrived, it was time to shoot.

Unfortunately, as we know with witches, no good deed goes unpunished, and despite the spell Luke cast, creating the perfect colorful Autumn day to shoot, there was one spell that was broken.  Luke's favorite wand broke during the shoot, and if you check out the image below, you might be able to figure out why....

'And well.... as you can see I was holding the wand between my butt cheeks and.....I gripped too tight and snapped it since there isn't a metal core.'

Clearly Luke has some tight, muscled butt checks, but wand mishap aside, the images turned out to be amazing.  I got in touch with Luke just in time to include the magic of the woods, the magic of nature, and the peak fall colors, into Luke's incredible visuals.  Magical, all around!
