In Mad Max: Fury Road, actor Nicholas Hoult plays Nux, a member of Immortan Joe's army of War Boys. Immortan Joe uses cruelty to rule over the settlement known as The Citadel.  The War Boys actually start out as War Pups, and if they survive long enough they then become War Boys. Most of  them are plagued by cancer and it's because of the his disease that Nux first comes in contact with Max, or at least in contact with Max's blood...

Hoult's Nux has one of the films most distinct character transformations, going from being loyal to Immortan Joe, to working with Max and Furiosa to save the wives and bring them home to take back  the Citadel.  Initially, director George Miller was on the fence about casting  Hoult.  George worried about the size discrepancy between Nicholas and Tom and that the character of Nux was younger than Nicholas was at the time.

'The second audition was four hours long, and I'd never been through something like that.  You were asked to sit opposite your partner, look at them, and say everything you're feeling and thinking.  We were also given these single words or phrases to repeat over and over again to each other for about twenty minutes.'

When Nicholas left the room, George turned to casting director Ronna Kress, who been championing for Nicholas for the role, and said, 'Yes, I see it now.'  Nicholas was quickly hired for the role.  I previously posted an Actors & Skin piece on Hoult back in 2020, (HERE:)  For this piece, I updated with a few more caps and another hot naked walk-a-way from Hoult from the series The Great.

Actors & SKIN: Nicholas Hoult

Not all actors can transform seamlessly from child actor into adult roles.  I think one of the reasons Hoult did it so well is because he took his time.  Many child actors seem to rush from playing children to adults without stopping in the middle.  So many young actors take on these wild mature adult roles that they're not really ready for, and can create shocking, and abrupt reactions from their audience.

Hoult didn't go directly from playing a cute kid to taking on roles playing lawyers and hit-man.  Hoult wisely embraced those transitional years, the awkward teen years, and played the inexperienced young man, before taking on parts playing the strong and mature man.

At only thirty, I believe  Hoult has appeared nude on film seven times.  In addition to the three scenes and projects that I'm featuring here, Hoult also appeared nude in True History of the Kelly Gang, (2020) Sand Castle, (2017) Newness (2017) and Kill Your Friends. (2015)  This means, Hoult has filmed nude scenes when he was in his teens, his twenties and and now in his thirties.

A Single Man (2009)

'I always think there’s loads of nudity in most things you see. The ocean scene, it’s not too awkward at the time because you’re in the moment, you’re in character and you have their thoughts and feelings about it. Tom explained everything very clearly and I understood it all very well, so it wasn’t awkward then. It is mostly when “cut!” gets called and then you’re stuck there, at work, in the buff, which I think is a lot of people’s worst nightmare.'

'We had to do it three times. There were fires at the time and there was ash in the air and I got ash in my eye and we had to stop after three, which Colin was very thankful for (laughing)! We got along very well. He’s very relaxed and calm and certainly a fantastic actor, so he’s very present in the moment when you’re doing a scene with him. It makes it very easy on you.'

The Great (2020)

Nicholas Hoult has admitted he finds sex scenes 'very difficult' to film and often bursts into fits of giggles during takes. The actor, 30, found it tough to keep a straight face in his love scenes with Elle Fanning in the Hulu series The Great where she stars as Catherine the Great while he plays her husband Peter III.

'They’re very difficult to do because they are very, very funny, and just ridiculous. And already, you’re in a slightly uncomfortable position doing that. But then add the sprinkle of hilarity on top of that and it becomes, yeah, very difficult not to start giggling. And I giggle a lot. So that was trouble for me.'

Because art is typically visual, change is organically part of it's core.  Part of my fascination with images of the male form, is seeing the progress and change in artist's style and technique.  In addition, it's interesting to watch a model's progression, both with experience and over time.  This is especially true with actors, who become inadvertent models in the process of creating and promotion.

These elements of change, are part of the reason I love doing the feature Actors & Skin.  In part, it's about bringing together all, or at least most, of an actors revealing resume.  A bonus element however, is also seeing and enjoying an actor's body over time, both the positive elements, and the less desirable changes as well.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course, and we all see things differently.  There are some actors, who showed skin in their teens in twenties, whose bodies never look as fit and hot again.  There are other actors however, who seem to thrive as they get older, and whose bodies look at their peak, in their thirties, forties and beyond.

Actor Nicholas Hoult only turned 30 this year, but's he's been acting, and visually modeling, all of his three plus decades.  Hoult began acting at the age of 3, professionally at 7. The English actor became known to many at the age of 12, after appearing as Marcus in 2002's About A Boy.  Five years later, when Hoult was 18, he did his first nude scenes for the UK version of Skins.

Hoult has gone on to appear nude on television and in film close to half a dozen times, most recently in the 2020 series The Great.  Many of you have seen his beautiful butt walk from the show, but if you haven't, and want to check out more of Hoult's heinie, on PAGE 2 HERE:

Nicholas Hoult in 'A Single Man'

I know most of you have seen caps from the scene before but I wanted to add them to the post. I could not have predicted when I first saw Nicholas Hoult in 'About A Boy' that he would turn into such a talented and beautiful actor. I did know watching Nicholas in 'Skins' however that there was a major talent about to break out.



I would have loved to have gotten to know a bit more about Kenny. Many seemed to view Colin Firth's 'George' as lucky to have gotten the attention of the much younger Kenny. I am not so sure... I think if Kenny had remained in George's life he would have brought a whole lot of trouble. As much as it would be nice to think Kenny was just attracted to George, you have to question a teenagers obsession with an almost 50 year old and what he actually wanted out of the relationship.

Just Because: Nicholas Hoult in A Single Man

I am a huge fan of Colin Firth (not to mention Julianne Moore) so I cannot wait to see 'A Single Man'. The movie never made it to my town and on the one night I was due to head into the city for the weekend to see it there was a storm which prevented my trip in. Nicholas Hoult who many met on 'About A Boy' but who really showed off his acting chops in 'Skins' is a nice bonus! Thanks to jasha92 for the caps!
