What do you dream of when you're teenager in a seaside resort in Normandy in the 1980s? A best friend? Scooting off on adventures on a boat or a motorbike? No. You dream of death.
When I was looking for movies to feature on Mother's Day, I ultimately decided to post about the slasher flick Who's Watching Oliver. (HERE:) Coming in a close second though, was the 2020 teen romance and drama Été 85. (Summer of 85) Written and directed by François Ozon, the film takes a unique look at friendship with a gay romance set in a seaside town in Normandy.
When 16-year-old Alexis, (Félix Lefebvre) capsizes his boat off the coast of Normandy, 18-year-old David ( Benjamin Voisin( heroically saves him. Alexis has just met the friend of his dreams, who opens his eyes to a new horizon of friendship, art and sexual bliss. One of the hottest scenes is early in the film. After capsizing, David brings Alexis home to dry off. His mom, (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi) insists on getting right in there to help.
Madame Gorman takes a hand-on approach to assisting her son's new friend with his bath. Bemoaning that her son David will no longer let her help him bath, she literally rips the clothes off of a poor shocked, and soaking wet Alexis. It all the embarrassment and vulnerablity a great CFNM scene should have. Although Lefebvre play 16, he was 19 or 20 at the time of filming.
