Too Old for Trick or Treating!?

You're never too old to play dress up, or get into the Halloween spirit! See more of Richard, and less of Richard's costumes on Page 2 HERE:

'Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun:'

Every Halloween, as costumes decisions start to get made, a familiar question often arises. What is the difference between a Ghost and A Ghoul? There are many different depictions of Ghosts in film and on TV, from the sweet and friendly Casper, the sexy Patrick Swayze, the evil spirits that haunt and kill, not to mention those Ghosts of the past, present and future. Ghosts are considered to be the souls of the dead that when visualized appear as spirits in evanescent forms.

Since Ghosts take on the souls of the dead, they also take on the essence of the person who's body was once pumping with blood and life.  Therefore they are capable of kindness, caring, sadness and love.  A Ghost's emotions are often dictated by their cause of death and given so many bodies leave the earth in such painful and brutal ways, there are many Ghosts who's eternity is filled with revenge and unresolved anger.

Ghoul's  (Arabic: الغول‎, al-ghuûl) however, are far more malevolent, they are pure evil.  It's unlikely you'll ever find a friendly Ghoul as they exist only to cause carnage.  Ghouls are creatures of the flesh, eating both stolen corpses and when they have the opportunity, lost and abandoned children.
Ghouls seize their prey, devouring every organ, every bit of flesh, leaving only the victims bones as evidence of their  frenzied feast.

'The gruesome ghoul, the grisly ghoul,
without the slightest noise
waits patiently beside the school
to feast on girls and boys'
Jack Prelutsky

'Its always fun to collaborate with Tom. We really wanted to capture the mood of the holidays coming ahead! I did do my own makeup for this shoot. Its kind of like Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas.'

Over the last couple of years, Light On Studio's Tom Nakielski and model Hansel Wellington have collaborated on some of FH's most memorable holiday shoots.  We've seen a naked Hazel with his horn of plenty on Thanksgiving, his long lickable candy cane at Christmas and his bushy little bunny this past Easter.

'Hansel was very creative in posing with the cape. I did not have to give him many instructions. He naturally used it as if it were part of his everyday attire. He gave me more expression than usual. I think he felt comfortable in the get-up. Perhaps he was a ghoul in his past life.'

Tom says capturing the Ghoulish Hansel was one of their most fun and creatives sessions.  So fun, our Ghoul decided he wanted to rise from the dead and feel the blood pumping through his body once again.  Tom says Hansel seemed enjoy performing for the camera, especially when creating the more erotic images.  Those shots, may be a little too hot for FH, but be sure to check them out on THE OVER-FLOW HERE:

Ghost Stories

'I ain't afraid of no ghost.'

Although I diffidently believe in spirits, even of hauntings, but I'm not sure I'm totally sold on Ghosts.  Ghosts, being the physical manifestation of the spirits of the dead.  There have been times I think I have sensed a spirit was close, even possibly trying to communicate or send me a message. I;m just not sure these spirits take on the classic white, flowing ghostly appearance, and I have never witnessed the vision softly creeping across a room.

Haunting'ss on the other hand, I've experienced.  Not the hauntings of a specific spirit, but the hauntings of several old houses I've stayed in over the years.  These hauntings didn't lead to anyone being hurt, they come in the form of  strange sounds, strange movements, strange temperature differences, even within the same room.

The Phantom Phallus by Frisky Frolic

Of course, some of these can easily be explained by wind, by old construction and wood, by air vents and rodents in the walls, but many.... cannot.  I have come to believe there are some homes, homes in which dozens upon dozens of spirits were born, lived and died in, hold the past within.  The hauntings occur when the past meets the present, and when together, the core of the house reacts.

Like most people, my introduction to Ghost's came through Casper and other depictions in books, film and TV.  I think for many of us born in the 70's or 80's, there was one vision, one Ghost story that weaved the sensual, with the spiritual and scary, in a cinematically carnal and movie masturbatory way.

I was about 9 or 10 when I caught 1981's Ghost Story on TV.  I wasn't really paying attention, although the move was only 5 or 6 years old, to me, it seemed like a boring old movie.  My parents were watching, I was playing some game on the floor near the television with my younger brother.  Like all horror movies, at some points during the movie, there were jolts, there were screams, that had my brother and I look up for our game towards the television.

I am not exactly sure, but Ghost Story might be the first time I saw a penis on my television screen. For some reason, the full frontal in the film wasn't edited out for it's television airing.  It may have missed, or might just not have seemed a bit deal in the mid eighties, either way, I remember it.  I didn't know the actor, nor did I care, a penis was clearly visual on the naked man plummeting down to his death.

Craig Wasson

As memorable as the scene was, it wasn't a memory that necessarily really stuck.  I had forgotten all about it until decades later when I saw the VHS box cover of Ghost Story at Blockbuster.  I didn't initially connect why, but there was something about the movie that was familiar, something that had me wanting to rent it.  It wasn't the story, when I began watching, none of it was familiar.  It wasn't the cast, although I had heard of Fred Astaire, he wasn't exactly a performer that drew my attention, unless of course it was his voice in Santa Clause is Coming To Town...

David & Don

Don
You're dead!
Eva
And you will be, too. Dead and wet and cold.

It was of course that penis. As soon as I saw actor Craig Wasson on screen, I knew I why I rented that movie.  Craig played brothers Don and David.  Although both had sex in the film, it was David whose climax was followed by him flying through the window and down onto the granite tiles surrounding the swimming  below.

When I was thinking of Ghost Stories, think particular moment was one of the most vivid to come to mind.  Had me wondering if there are many others, who had their first experience seeing a penis on TV being Wasson's willy?

Given the special effects required for the scene, I also couldn't help but wonder about Wasson's experience filming the scene.  He would have to have been placed completely naked either on the floor, or on a wall in front of a blue screen. (It didn't become green until the 90's)  I am guessing director John Irvin gave the actor directions to wriggle around and flail his body around so it (and of course his penis) looked like it was in free fall.

Seasonal Sightings

Soldiered On: Richard Roman by Lights On Studio

'I see their shadows on the snow, hear the crack of leathern wings, feel their hot breath'
Aemon Targaryen

When I first viewed Tom Nakielski's (Lights On Studio) images of model Richard Roman, I instantly thought of Aemon Targaryen from Game of Thrones.  In part it was the costumes, in part it was the wisdom, strength and vitality Richard expresses within his work. Aemon  has served as a maester to the Night's Watch at Castle Black for so long that the rest of the Seven Kingdoms has forgotten about his Targaryen blood.

Some of the most interesting characters on Game of Thrones are over 60.  Given during the time the show is set in, most men didn't usually  live much past 30, you can only imagine the strength, stamina and fortitude it took to make it to sixty or seventy.  Modeling also takes a lot of strength, stamina and fortitude, especially when you're not 19 years old.  At a little over 19, 75 to be exact, Richard has heard 'You're not the age I generally work with,' more times than he can remember.

Tom as well acknowledged that Richard is not the typical model he usually works with, but at 75, Tom describes the Detroit model as a hunk in his own right.  A retired teacher, Richard has been modeling for awhile, primarily as a life drawing model for art classes.  Tom says the shoot was a last minute decision.  He had found an abandoned factory a year ago, but it was boarded up and he couldn't get in.  A few weeks ago when Tom was back in Detroit dropping off prints for a gallery display, he again checked out the building.  This time, he found an opening to get in.

'The only day that I thought would be warm enough to do nudes was the upcoming Monday.  (t was only 48 degrees and much colder in the building. Richard brought the black outfit and the Greek warrior outfit. I was glad he came more than prepared. We did a lot of walking to find various spot to photograph. I wore my winter jacket the whole time and was still cold. Richard never complained that he was cold but I could see he was shivering. What a trooper. I have had much younger models wimp out when it was cold. Even with little or nothing to cover up, he soldiered on.'

'I worked with Tom twice; this being the third session.  Weather was the only glitch. It was sunny but cool, making it difficult to dwell on any one pose.  Tom is a real professional, directions are easy to follow and I really enjoyed the session.   He always seeks the best combination of location and lighting. Input is welcomed and used in the poses.'

Horror Hunks: Taylor Lacher in Devil Times Five

'One by one, the people at the cabin begin to fall prey to a series of rather shocking and violent deaths with no way out. What transpires is utterly disturbing in every respect and every sense of the word! Once you encounter the callous Devil Times Five, there is no escape from becoming Peopletoys at their merciless hands!'

I'm a little young to remember Leif Garrett as a teen idol, but I certainly got up through old magazines and his mostly shirtless images on the net thanks to days as one of Tiger Beats most popular hotties.  When I saw there was an old 70's horror flick starring Leif, and with a bit of male nudity, I had to check out it.

Unfortunately, Devil Times Five was filmed in 1974, and Leif was only about 13, but I wasn't the least bit disappointed.  Leif plays one of the five, a group of children brutally killing the residents of a secluded mountain top winter home. Devil Times Five (Peopletoys) also features Shelley Morrison, (Will & Grace)  Sorrell Booke (Dukes of Hazard) and Taylor Lacher.

Thankfully it wasn't Boss Hogg  doing the nude scene but studly actor Taylor Lacher who looks like he could be the son of Terry Bradshaw and Veep's Matt Walsh.  Lacher worked steadly on TV and film through most of the 70's and 80's often playing a cop or sheriff  (as he did on Nakia). Lacher also appeared on other shows including Charlies Angles, Rockford File, S.W.A.T, The Six Million Dollar Man Dynasty, Knots Landing, The A Team and T.J Hooker.

Although not traditionally great looking, for some reason Lacher did for me in this flick.  I have discovered over the years working on FH that I have a thing for beefy actors from the 70's and 80's, especially ones who show off their tan lines and great butts.  If I had just seen a picture of Lacher, I may have taken a pass, but I found nude scene incredibly hot.  The film was also creepy enough to hold my interest.
