Thumbs Down: Netflix

'Time is precious. If you have a story in you, please get it out to the world..'

Thumbs down, way down to Netflix for the cancellation of Boots.  Inspired by the novel The Pink Marine by writer Greg Cope White, Boots premiered this past fall to what appeared to be quite a bit of fanfare.  There were also positive reviews and tons of on-line attention for it's talented, and incredibly hot cast.

Moore &  Miles Heizer

With the current phenomenon surrounding Heated Rivalry, it' s difficult to compare the two queer character led shows, but the promotional team behind Boots got the word out there, seemingly, without a ton of help from it's network.  I really loved the show, and was sure it was a shoe in for a second season.  The ratings seemed decent, especially for the first few episodes, and there were so many characters with stories left to tell.

There is speculation the decision is political, and maybe it is, a certain Orange anus manages to ruin everything he goes near.  The attention his Keystone clown administration gave the show, only seemed to give it attention, and generated more positive comments towards the show than the idiot who  was critical of it.

This past October, I did a piece featuring stand out actor Max Parker, (HERE:) but Max wasn't the only cast member to make his mark with his role on the series.  Even with a large ensemble, almost all of cast, including the supporting cast members, had their moment to shine.  Difficult, with so many characters and large group scenes.

One of my, and many others, favorites was actor Kieron Moore who played Slovacek on the series. Although Slovacek was seen in many group scenes, the character didn't really have a clearly defined story arc of his own.  I'm guessing Moore's lines, for the entire first season, could fit on just a page or two.  Yet, his facial expressions and line reading had him stand out in each and every scene he was in.

I hope the producers look to another streaming service to maybe pick up the show, but if not, I'm guessing the cast will land in another project.  They're too talented, and I'm sure Moore will be sought after for many upcoming roles.

I broke one of my Netflix rules, by streaming a show in it's first season.  Given how often they cancel decent shows after their first season, I generally wait until hearing about a renewal.  I'm glad I did though, it was a stand out show, and I enjoyed each episode.  Thanks to White, Andy Parker, Norman Lear and all those who brought it to the screen.

Although it was a bit of a 'blink or you'll miss it moment', I do think we got a glimpse of Moore's butt in the first episode.  Thanks to the original DC poster who pointed out the tat, (on Slovacek's arm) was the same on the body, and butt, on the actor on right exiting the shower.
