The Air on his Skin: Naked Bob by Naked Ambition

'My first foray into nudity was as a child and pre teen in the back yard at night after my parents went to sleep. It progressed into evening walks totally nude so I could feel the air on my skin.'
Naked Bob

Air on the skin, especially the cool late night air, seems to both the feeling, and the draw for many to take off their clothes. I wouldn't call myself a nudist by any means, but Naked Bob's words brought back a few memories. When I first moved to the country when I was in my twenties, for the first time in my life I didn't have neighbours a few yards away.

I rented the bottom of a house and my front door, (in the back of the house) opened to a large field. I used to love to step outside naked late at night, and feel the cool air on my skin. If the lights were off upstairs, I assumed the couple that resided there were asleep, if not I didn't care. The only other eyes that could have possibly caught my late night strolls were the cows in the field.

It was brief period of time, a year later I was in house in town, and my nightly excursions (except for one night after too much wine) basically ended. I certainly was nude enough to put the moniker of 'naked' in front of my name. Unlike myself, Bob had more than just a few experiences or a brief moment or two of nudity. Ever since those late night backyard strips, nudism became a lifestyle.

'I’ve loved nudity since I was a kid and have never been shy or uncomfortable naked in any situation. Nudity, especially public, is incredibly freeing and liberating...it’s one of the most natural things you can do. I hope this gives a bit of insight into my naked life...'

It made sense then, that Bob would connect with George, the California photographer behind Naked Ambition. Bob first connected with George via a mutual friend, a local artist who let Bob know that George was going to be in town and was looking for nude models. George is also a model and has done numerous nude shoots himself. The location for the shoot was the Marina Inn in San Francisco, and Bob shares that during the shoot, the discussions were mostly about focused on their mutual love for nudity and nudism.

'Because of the limited possibilities offered by my hotel room, we didn't shoot for very long, but Bob was incredibly easy to work with. He works out regularly and as a result has a nice physique. Because he is a lifelong nudist he is totally comfortable naked and doesn’t mind showing every inch of his body.'

The Prudist of Nudists: Sam by Naked Ambition

'I was drawn to Sam because of his trim physique, long hair, elven good looks and the twinkle in his eye.'

I was drawn to Sam's great body, eye twinkle and hot look as well.  I think it was especially Sam's beautiful long straight blonde hair that first attracted me to the images sent on from George from Naked Ambition. Growing up in the eighties and nineties, I had a think for guys with long, blonde, and strikingly straight hair.

I think part of it might have been my thing for rockers.  There was always at least one member of every band or group that, along with his leather pants, took a hair straightener or two along on tour.  If the guy with the flowing blonde locks wasn't a rocker, he often leaned towards the spiritual.  A new age guy with Quaker values, with exceptions of course, especially when it came to sex and his hair care products....

George noticed Sam when he was checking out model portfolio's prior to an upcoming trip to Albuquerque.  George shoots both male and female, and was contacting models in the area that he was interested in shooting during his visit.  In turn, Sam checked out George's images, and liked what he saw.  Arrangements were made to shoot on George's third day in town.

Since George had booked a room at a clothing optional B & B, (the only one in New Mexico) He thought it would be the perfect place for them to shoot.  Shooting on location at the B & B meant George and Sam may have to work around other guests.  On the plus side, unlike most photo shoots, having guests around would mean that Sam wouldn't be the only one naked.  After clearing the shoot with the B & B's owner, everything was a go!

George greeted Sam at the door when he arrived and introduced him to the proprietress. They immediately went out back to the pool, stripped off and began to work.  George knew the location well as he had completed a successful shoot with a female model at the same pool the day before. When he and Sam began shooting however, George wasn't aware, that a pair of new guests had arrived the night before.  An elderly couple who ended up being the prudist of nudists.

'Sam and I began our shoot with him doing yoga poses on the diving board. In addition to his full time job as a clinically trained hypnotherapist, he is also a part time yoga instructor. The couple came out, and started out  at the far end of the yard in the hot tub. Sam and I had been shooting for 15-20 minutes when the couple got out of the hot tub and got into the pool and began swimming laps.'

'I made a point of only shooting Sam when they were at the far end of the pool and out of view from my camera. We continued shooting for a few more minutes when the proprietress approached me looking quite disturbed. The couple had voiced their objection to the shoot taking place and were threatening to leave. Not wanting to cause her any trouble, Sam and I exited the pool area and finished the shoot in my room. We were both taken aback at the turn of events considering that everyone involved was a nudist.'

George reports that for the remainder of his stay, the couple studiously avoided him for the three days their visits overlapped. Although the incident caused a location change for the shoot, George still managed to get some great shots of Sam under the  incredible New Mexico sun blue skies. It also didn't deter George from enjoying the rest of his stay at the B & B, the beautiful accommodations and grounds and the delicious gourmet breakfasts.  I'm guessing the elderly couple enjoyed their breakfasts as well, too bad they didn't also appreciate all the incredible views their say had to offer.

Naked Ambition: The Lion, The Mouse & No Wardrobe

'He's wild, you know. Not like a tame lion.'
C.S. Lewis

Many of you may remember Naked Ambition's George, and his masked mammals from two pieces last Halloween. One with a scary Halloween mask, (HERE:) and one with a fetching and svelte hippopotamus. (HERE:)  The artist behind the camera models himself, (HERE:) and understands how the mask can not only tap into the animal instincts in some of his subjects, it can also provide a layer of camouflage and protection for models seeking not to get caught.

Unless it's for Halloween, I'm usually am not a huge fan of masks in imagery.  I think especially, if the focus of the image is the nude male form.  I like to view people in their entirety, and this desire has led to one of my goals with FH, which is that I strive to have the men that I feature viewed as full human beings, and not just a compilation of their body parts.

I also like to find out a little bit about about the models I feature, and most masked models, understandably, wish to keep their identity a mystery.  For me, the male body is a work of art on it's own, but FH is also about story, and although masks don't preclude their being a story, it's often one more difficult to tell.

One of the main reasons is that so much of a person's personality is seen in their face, especially their eyes.  So often when I'm featuring a model or image, a models smile or their facial expression can provoke the direction of the story.  A model's eyes in particular, sometimes with a twinkle, sometimes showing reservation, or nerves, are also responsible for so many of the stories I've told.

Despite my usual reservations, I love Naked Ambition's masked images.  Admittedly, in part I know it's due to the incredible bodies involved.  More importantly though, Georges's images never lack either personality, or story.  I in a large part of this is both the poses George captures, and the fact that the masks are of animals.

It is my personal theory, the the way in which many o us think about, and relate to animals as adults, is based on how we're introduced to them as children.  So many people who say they 'hate' cats, or any other animal, can frequently connect to an early negative experience with the animal.

Growing up, like so many kids born in the 70's and 80's, most of first connections with animals come from Disney.  Dumbo the Elephant, Simba in The Lion King,  and the many dogs, cats and rodents, Micky included, who formed my love and admiration for animals.  Disney also gives all of their animal characters human voices, human traits and most importantly human emotions.

Although I am keenly aware of how violent a hippo can be, when I see George's shots of Jeremiah the hippo in the shower, my mind flashes not to hippo's murdering clothes washing women along the river banks, it flashes to the tutu wearing Hyacinth from Fantasia.

I love that George keeps his menagerie moving, photographing his hippo's, lions and mice moving throughout the house, bathing, showering, reading, or just lounging around and soaking up the mid-afternoon sun.  All the while of course, remaining the sensually sexicited animals that they instinctively are.

Give Me Something Good to Eat: Jeremiah Bottom by Naked Ambition

'Due to family circumstances, Jeremiah insisted on covering his face in some manner so as to remain anonymous for any full nude shots'

Although it was Jesse I first featured when showcasing the work of artist, photographer and model George from Naked Ambition earlier this year, it was his shots o Jeremiah Bottom in a clown mask that first grabbed my attention.  The shots above reminded me of a Halloweener who arrived home without his costume the morning after a Halloween party, a little worse for un-wear.

I usually like to see the face behind a mask, but Jeremiah has such an eye catching front, not to mention his Jeremiah bottom, that his desire for anonymity wasn't an issue.  Although Jeremiah may not have wanted his face shown, he clearly had a desire, and maybe even a need, to be seen and enjoyed completely naked. I also never thought I'd be featuring a hippo hunk, but if you check out Page 2,(HERE) George's masks, and Jeremiah's bottom inspired me to do so.

George recalls shooting with Jeremiah six or seven times over the years. He had a family in the area, but contacted George when he was in the area, and need a little time away from the family unit. Jeremiah enjoyed being in front of the camera and through the costumes and masks, was able to release parts of himself, he couldn't when at home with his family. For me, this is really the essence of Halloween, being able to release pieces of yourself kept hidden, the other 364 days of the year.

Naked Ambition: Short Fuse Christmas

'It was a short fuse shoot. I contacted the photographer the day before and asked if he was interested in doing a Naughty Santa shoot. He said sure.'

We've all done some last minute Christmas shopping, but how about last minute shooting?  When Naked Ambition's George called his latest shoot 'Short Fuse' Christmas, I thought I knew what he meant.  My mind went to the craziness of the season and how we can all have short fuses, especially with relatives in the spare room, at Christmas.  I also thought Chevy Chase turning on the light display in Christmas Vacation...

George wasn't talking about his mood and patience, nor his holiday light display.  George was referring to a quick last minute naughty Santa shoot he put together with photographer Antonio LopezFH readers my remember that I featured some of George's previous work with Antonio last year, (HERE:)  minus that Santa hat and see through red tulle fabric.   George' Santa looks both naughty, and maybe a little pensive about his upcoming trip across the globe.  If I were one of his elves, I would be on my best behaviour!

Center of Attention: George's Naked Ambition

First 3 images by Antonio Lopez

'I remember a class during which I began to get an erection. When I reached about half-mast I overheard 2 female students giggling and debating whether my semi-erect junk more closely resembled a carrot or a banana.'

Sharp eyed FH viewers might recognize the clown mask in the first image above.  I featured images of the oh so beautifully naked Jeremiah in the clown (and a hippo) mask this past Halloween.  (Give Me Something Good to Eat)  The image of Jeremiah in the mask was one of the first images that drew me to the work of the photographer behind the lens.

It it fitting then, that in the first photo from Antonio Lopez, the mask again makes another erotic appearance.  This past summer, I did an entire day focused on art and life models. (HERE:) I have always been fascinated by models brave enough to take it all off not just for one photographer, but a room full of strangers.   I always wondered their thought process, what went into to their decision.  Were they nervous, what did they think about.  Was it strictly boring and professional or did they feel objectified, judged, compared, sexualized or even adored.

'I met Antonio because we had both done shoots with the same model, “Many Faces”. She credited him on the photos she posted from their shoot(s). I admired his work and thought it would be awesome to shoot with him.I looked him up on FB and contacted him about getting together sometime. We traded a few messages and eventually worked out a concept, time and location. I’m grateful we did. He is an awesome photographer.'

Next 5 Photos: George by Photo by Richard D. Iyall, Cowlitz

Thankfully, I had an artist and photographer who's work I have been featuring over the past year who was willing to satisfy and assuage my curiosity.  Some of you may remember earlier this year when I first introduced the work of George from Naked Ambition.  The first time I featured George's photography work this past January, (Bidirectional Views) the model was Jesse, but the focus was on the man behind the lens.

George shared the story of driving to California with his wife and connecting with one of his friends who life modeled at a few local colleges.  George's friend knew he was a nudist and suggested he give it a try.  George felt his  modeling and his photography fit together hand and glove and he has continued to pursue both.  Of course the idea of modeling nude is different than the reality, and the nerves kicked in during his first nude shoot which included stepping completely naked into a hot tub at the Berkeley Sauna with an experienced female model.  But... as you'll read below, that was just the beginning of his naked ambition and adventures.

'Richard is a fellow life model. We became acquainted when we were both booked to model for the same life drawing class(es). I learned that he was also a photographer working freelance for a local community activist newspaper. He also frequently brings a camera with him when modeling in order for the instructor to photograph him. In that way he is able to add to his modeling portfolio.

He had his camera with him one of the days we were both assigned to model. The instructor requested that I begin class with a series of gesture poses which Richard kindly photographed and made available to me for my portfolio. Again blessed to have photos taken by such a talented photographer.'

Although you were a nudist, were you nervous the first time you modeled nude?

Yes. Especially my first time in the small studio at a local university. The first ring of students were no more than 3 feet away from me and I felt quite uncomfortable with the lack of personal space between us

Tell me about that first time, was it for a class or an artist?

The first time, not counting public nudity at the beach or events in San Francisco such as Nude Aide, was for a art class.

My first time modeling on film was for my college roommates class project. The film was about the young man’s struggle with sexual identity. I did separate nude scenes in bed with another male and with a female. My roommate did jump cuts back and forth between the two to convey the confusion and sexual identity struggle he was experiencing in his own life at that time.

What has been your favorite experience modeling thus far?

I recently modeled for a Femdom foot worship photo shoot. For the final sequence of shots the model’s feet were covered in cherry preserves which I proceeded to lick off and swallow. It was a delicious experience and I loved every minute of it. I hope to do more modeling in this style in the future.

Any odd or strange stories from any pose sessions?

Nothing really odd or strange that I can think of. The only thing remotely in that vein is those sessions when there are one or more unannounced visitors to a session.

Can you remember any feedback artists have given you that had you thinking or scratching your head?

Generally speaking most artists have been complimentary about my ability to hold a pose for an extended period and to get back into the pose after a stretching break, as well as my overall physical condition.

Remaining images by Portraits by Royce

'Royce had posted on Craigslist for models back when CL was a viable means for photographers and models to connect. I responded and he replied. So we set a time for a shoot at his home “studio”. He is a professional photographer doing weddings and the like, so I was pleased to have the opportunity to shoot with him. Another great photographer that I have had the good fortune to work with.'

What do you think about during long posing sessions?

Anything and everything depending on what’s going on in my life and the world around me on any given day

Have you ever been asked to do an especially difficult or awkward pose? Any you've said no to?

Rarely have I had to say no. I do remember one to 2 occasions when I was asked to take a pose that was physically impossible for me or was so uncomfortable as to be unsustainable

Have you posed with other models and if so, how is it different?

Yes, many times. Different in that there is usually some concept with an underlying story line involved or recreation of a famous work - Adam and Eve, The Roman Mythology of The Rape of the Sabine Woman, POWs, for example. I find scenarios which involve physical contact with other models, such as the aforementioned Adam and Eve and Rape of the Sabine Woman, particularly enjoying.

What is the largest number of people you have posed for?

In a formal setting I’d say 100-125 posing on stage at a benefit for the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco.

What part of your body are you most happy with? What part gets the most attention from others?

I think my torso from shoulders to butt is down right classic when seen from the rear. My uncut penis gets the most attention because many students have never seen an uncircumcised cock in person before.

Have you ever had any unexpected erections during a pose and if so, how did you handle it?

Yes, especially when I first started modeling. Particularly when posing the first time for a new group of people. Not much you can do other than keep on modeling until the erection subsided or excuse myself and deal with it.  Rather than getting a full blown erection a more common problem for me is leaking pre-cum during a pose. This is particularly true when doing a standing pose. I keep a small cloth handy to wipe the string of pre-cum away.

I also receive positive comments about my legs, hair, and face.

Why do you think you like modeling?

Several reasons. The sense of freedom, the gratification at being the center of attention, the legacy of having drawings and photographs of me that will still be around long after I’m gone.
