Fit & Trimmed: Alin by Frank Joseph

'Alin was one of my favorites to shoot and work with.'

Some of you may recognize the beautiful Alin from a piece on the site I did last spring. (The Daily Grind)  In that piece, you enjoyed some of the finished images from his time shooting with photographer Frank Joseph.  For this piece, I wanted to go back to the beginning, of Alin's arrival in Amsterdam, his time in the capital city, and his prep work before the 'official' shoot with Frank began.

FH viewers know that I love including behind the scenes images when possible.  When I recently again visited Frank's work with Alin, as hot as Alin looked in the final images, it was the behind the scenes shots that this time really stood out.  Frank is sort of 'total' photographer, in that he often shoots the entire experience of the shoot.  This includes shots of the location, often the model's arrival, and of course many great behind the scenes shots during set-ups and all those hot moments in-between the planned shots and final poses.

Frank & Alin

Frank's work with Alin occurred during his early days of shooting, just after beginning his photography journey. Because of his work with a charter airline, Frank does a lot of travel,  and as a bit of Nomatic artist, often plans to meet models on the road.  Frank first met and shot Alin during a trip to Bucharest. These shots, are from their second shoot while Frank was visiting and working in Amsterdam.

Frank shares that Alin was cool with most ideas and thing he threw at him, and had no issue with Frank snapping away as he prepared for the shoot.  As you can see, one of Alin's pre-shoot rituals was shaving pretty much all of his beautiful body.  Since Frank had been shooting pretty much since he arrived in Amsterdam, having his body shaving captured was just another part of the shoot.

Alin really does a thorough job, using both tweezers and the razer to ensure his body is smooth and camera ready.  I really loved the little elastic he used to ensure his bangs didn't prevent him from getting a close-up look at his body of work.

Because this was an early shoot, Frank sadly hadn't yet incorporated video into his work.  Most of his later shoots also included behind the scenes video and I think we all would have enjoyed a video of Alin prepping for the shoot!  Frank attempted to contact Alin for a third trip, but by then he had basically left social media and given up modeling for Monday to Friday job and a quieter, more structured life.

'The crew that I was working with in Amsterdam were all smitten with Alin - both the boys and the girls.'

Although Frank and Alin covered a lot in their time collaborating together, there were more themes Frank had intended to explore.  In between shooting however, they also wanted to spend time exploring the city and enjoying the local dining and drinking establishments.  This meant, some plans, and some intended themes, didn't come to fruition.

'The night before Alin left, I had bought tulips and wanted to shoot him in bed with those, but we went out and got wasted.  By the time we got back to the hotel, neither of us were really up for another shoot.'

Tank Tops, Short Skirts & Bare Butts: Kal by Frank Joseph Company

'I was first struck by Kal's great butt and long hair.'

Last year, I rediscovered the work of a photographer Frank Joseph.  I loved Frank's work in the early 2010's, especially his focus and passion for shooting the round curves  and muscular lines of the male butt.  When I reached out to Frank, he welcomed me to share from his site and I quickly chose Frank's work with Nicholas and his bountiful backside. (Shower, Rinse & Repeat).

While recently scrolling Frank's Twitter, I stopped in my tracks after seeing another incredible pair of butt cheeks, this time, shaking his ample ass wearing only a short, school girl plaid skirt. I of course, had to see and find out more. That ass, belongs to fitness model Kal Handsome who Frank connected with after also being drawn to his great butt and body after seeing his images on Instagram.

Frank contacted Kal about collaborating to create some nude and erotic shots and Kal was immediately on board.  Kal had no issue with shooting nudes and is always looking for new and exciting content for his OnlyFans page.  Frank describes Kal as quiet, but polite and completely comfortable shooting nude. Kal was also really easy going with Frank's suggestions, especially one particular idea that Frank had, one that he hadn't really tried before...

'I did something new with this shoot which was to work with female lingerie. He was open to it from the beginning. I couldn’t get the corset to fit, but the mini skirt and black crotchless undies were the best items and worked out really well.'

The fashion choices Frank chose for the beginning of the shoot proved to be the perfect showcase for Kal's incredible butt and as sometimes happens, when wearing a short skirt, there were plenty of opportunities to bend over.  As you can see from the gif above, Kal was also very accommodating during the shoot, helping Frank move the furniture for the shots on the couch.

After shooting the fashion and couch shots, as he often does in his shoot, Frank moved the location the shower.  Beautiful, round male butts always look especially appetizing glistening wet as drops of water  from the shower head slide down and over a model's body and skin.

If you visit Frank's site, (HERE:) you can check out many more shots from his work with Kal, including images of Kal in the black lingerie that I didn't include here.  If you join the site, and become a member, you can also preview the video, featuring over an hour of behind the scenes footage of Kal during the shoot.  The full video is also available for just $6 on the site.

Tightly Knit: Teban by Frank Joseph Photography

He had the brightest smile...

Like all relationships, sometimes the ones between photographers and models are like ships that pass in the night.  So close, yet oh so far away.   Over the years of working on FH I've heard so many stories from models and photographers about possible shoots that never came to be.  Sometimes because of scheduling conflicts, other times due to travel and work commitments.  Sometimes, however, its destiny, even when the the photographer and model live in different countries and on separate continents.

Photographer Frank Joseph first met Teban about two years, but online, not in person.  Still, they chatted for awhile, forming a connection.  Frank however, was living in Miami and Teban was based in Bogota, Columbia.   Months later however, Frank planned a trip to Columbia for research, and a tentative plan was made to meet up.  Turns out, the timing was all wrong, and although the ships came close, they were not able to meet up.

That research Frank was doing however, proved to be a bit of lighthouse, leading them to eventually connect.  Earlier this year, Frank ended up moving to Columbia.  He'd been planning on moving for awhile, the goal, to join a program teaching English as a foreign language in another country.  Frank had already completed his TEFL certification, and it was now time to choose a place to practice.  There were two openings in Columbia, one in Bogota, the other in Pereira.

Since he'd already done his research, Frank decided on Bogota. Frank had enjoyed his previous visit, and was familiar with the area, and had made a few connections.  It didn't have anything to do with Teban, especially since they never met, but he and Teban had stayed in touch, and Frank hoped once he got settled, they might finally meet up and shoot.  There were still rough seas however, keeping these two ships apart just a little while longer.

After Frank arrived and got settled in Columbia, he and Teban made tentative plans to meet.  Still, issues around and they were still both missing the mark when it came to scheduling.  Frank was beginning to think they'd never meet, when out of the blue, Teban called and asked if Frank was free the next day.  Frank quickly said yes, then remembered a previous commitment, and had to back out.

As soon as he backed out, Frank knew he made a mistake, especially given how many 'almost' meet-ups and shoots had fallen through.  Frank reorganized his thinking, rescheduled his other commitment, and texted Teban back that he was free to meet.  Frank wanted to make their first creative encounter simple, so planned that shoot at his condo, using just the bed and shower as locations.

'Meeting Teban did not disappoint. He had the brightest smile I'd seen since arriving here.'

I'm guessing Teban's incredible smile, and magnificent butt have drawn focus for many FH viewers.  If you check out the minimal bits of fashion Teban is wearing, you might notice most of them began as yarn.  The beautiful sweater Teban is wearing, as well as the hat and thong, were all made by hand by Frank.   In addition to photography, another of Frank's passion is knitting, and often creates unique hand pieces for his models to wear.  Frank sometimes gifts these to the models, and also sells his creations on-line to raise money to support animal adoptions.

You can check out much more of Frank's work with Teban on his website HERE:  You can also check out and purchase some behind the scenes videos from this, and other of Frank's shoots HERE:

Moon Over Miami: Yasiel by Frank Joseph

'Oh when I saw him standing there.
Well my heart went boom when I crossed that room.'

Although the phrase, 'Location, location, location' is usually used in real estate, it's also a common phrase in the arts. Whether it be filmmaking or photography, location can sometimes not only impact a shoot, (either positively or negatively) it can also become a character within the work.  As a artist who often shoots while traveling, photographer Frank Joseph often uses hotel rooms as his makeshift studios.  For his work with Yasiel, the studio was The Deauville Beach Resort in Miami Beach.

The song lyrics I began this piece with were not just because Yasiel would look incredibly hot standing anywhere. The Deauville Beach Resort is famous for hosting The Beatles on February 16, 1964, for their second historic live performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. This broadcast an performance didn't take place in the show's Midtown Manhattan studio, but took place on location in the hotel's Napoleon Ballroom.  The Beatles performance reached almost 70 million viewers.  The Fab Four performed six songs, including 'I Saw Her Standing There.'

The event put the Deauville on the map as a defining hotspot of 1960s South Florida, In addition to their television performance, the band famously spent their time at the Deauville lounging by the resort pool and giving interviews.  There are iconic shots of the group in the resort's swimming pool.  In addition they spent time writing and rehearsing in their rooms.

As nice as those room were, given Frank and Yasiel were shooting in the evening, utilizing the windows and natural light wasn't an option.  Although Frank tried to light the room himself, he wasn't thrilled with the results.  That's when he decided maybe using natural light was an option, but the light from the moon hovering over Miami. Yasiel was one of the models Frank shot when first began shooting.  If you've followed my previous pieces featuring Frank's work, (HERE:) you know there's one specific quality Frank looks for in the men he shoots.

'As i do with so many  models, I selected Yasiel for his butt. He certainly did not disappoint in that regard!'

Frank remembers that Yasiel was from Cuba, and was new to living and working in Florida.  Although he was working on his English, there was a language barrier, and not a lot of chitchat during the shoot.  Still, Yasiel knew what he was doing, and how to pose showing off his assets.  The poor lighting in room actually worked out, leading to some glorious of shots of Yasiel's magnificent moon, under a blue, Miami midnight moon.
