A Bruin in the Brush: Jonny by Briancan Photography

'I am a sucker for facial and body hair.'
Brian

Every year on Canadian Thanksgiving, I try to spotlight artists and models from Canada.  I love the work of Briancan Photography, and often head to his portfolio this time of year because of his skill and passion for capturing models in the great outdoors.  Brian regularly hikes through the woods, often during Autumn, to use the incredible Ontario fall foliage as the backdrop for his visuals.

This year, when I was going through Brian's gallery of outdoor images, I didn't have to search long.  Brian had several shots of a plaid wearing stunner I knew would be perfect for the holiday.  Now normally, one might try to avoid running into a bear in the woods, but in this case I think most would stop and stare, especially given this hot bear was donning just a leather jockstrap.

On this day, Brian headed into the forest to capture model and musician Jonny Twofour, a model he'd worked with several times before. They originally connected a few years ago, back when Model Mayhem was the place for artists and models to connect.  The first shoot they did together had Brian capturing Jonny on the beach with another male model.  In addition to these two outdoor shoots, Brian also shot Brian in studio, in a bedroom setting and for his iconic bathtub series.

I just thought Jonny was gorgeous. He also has a very handsome face that only adds to his appeal. He's great to work with. Open minded and able to go into some great poses.. Jonny doesn't take a bad photo. He looks masculine and sexy in all his shots. And its not often to get a model with such a lovely hairy ass. Just saying....

In addition to the incredible Autumn colors, Jonny's jeans and plaid shirt scream not only fall in Canada, but cuddling and warming up on a crisp fall day.  Although this series was shot a few years ago, Jonny remembered the day well, working with Brian, and the inspiration for his look in leather.  You can check out more of Brian's work, this time with a different incredible Canadian bodies, on the NEXT PAGE HERE:

What brought you to modeling?
A photographer asked me to model for them when I was 20 and in college. Hey!

Was modeling nude, or almost nude, part of the initial plan?
It wasn’t the initial plan but I’ve always been comfortable with my body so I had no qualms about it.

Do you remember you first nude shoot? How nervous were you?
My first nude shoot was with photographer Chris Teel when I lived in Montreal. I wasn’t nervous about it though.

How did you connect with Brian?
I believe we connected off Model Mayhem some time ago.

Do you remember your first impression of his work?
I thought it was well executed. I thought the bathtub pictures were interesting.

Any memories or moments that stand out from the shoot?
I remember trying to get this Tom of Finland looking shot.(below) I really wanted a shot like this for my portfolio.

Was there anything, or anyone, you had to consider before sharing images on-line?
Not particularly. I don’t think my family would be looking up those type of pictures of me.

What did you think about heading out into the woods, wearing very little, on a crisp fall day?
I didn’t think much of it honestly. I was wearing clothes in between shots and was only changing into the outfits for the shots.

Any concern with running into hikers, animals?
No, we were in a pretty secluded spot. I wasn’t too worried about running into hikers and we were close enough to the city that I didn’t expect there to be any animals of concern really.

What was your favorite part about working with Brian?
Brian is very easy going and is great at rolling with the punches of the creative process. I’ve never had a bad experience shooting with him :)
