Corey Kirk for The Fearless Project

I love when favorites collide! Last Thursday I had the pleasure of featuring model Corey Kirk and his work with the amazing Chris Teel. (see that post HERE:). This week Corey is back, shooting with Drasko Bogdanovic for The Fearless Project. Although I must lament the shaving of Corey's chest hair, the video of the shoot is too hot to miss!!!

If you have not check out Justin Violini's The Fearless Project yet, ask yourself what your waiting for! Check out the official site HERE: and my past posts on The Fearless Project HERE:

Justin Violini & The Fearless Project

The Fearless Project:“an art and cultural initiative bringing together artists, outsiders, thinkers, musicians, designers, writers, creatives: anyone who has ever had the urge to do something outside of their comfort zone. The project celebrates the bold, the creative, the daring - the fearless in each one of us.”

"Projects within Fearless address the fears within us all — which may or may not include rejection, embarrassment, and surpassing the general boundaries an individual may present. Each individual project releases a powerful thrust to the mind, presenting personal relationships to particular scenarios; a look into realism and of course, fears."

A couple of weeks ago I posted about model and athlete Greg Kelley and his work with the wonderful JoeTickNow (Check that post out HERE:) There is something about Greg that tells me his is going to be big one day. Amazing body, amazing face and most importantly, an amazing attitude.

The other night I had the pleasure of viewing the video below featuring Greg. The video is part of Justin Violini's The Fearless Project. Justin says that the video entitled 'animation/temptation' speaks to how we cope with the things we are denied.

Make sure to find out more about The Fearless Project by checking out the official site HERE: You can also join the Fearless Facebook page to join in on the discussion.

Fearlessly Closer

Photographer and film artist Paul Gunn once again joins forces with Justin Violini and THE FEARLESS Project in an editorial shoot with model Barrett Paul which resulted in not just these incredible shots, but also the video below!

Above: Paul shooting Barrett Pall.

This shoot continues Gunn's work exploring themes of exploitation and vulnerability. Gunn's love to take things usually considered disturbing or taboo and turn them into something exciting and erotic. He and Justin's work with Barrett Paul certainly exceeds this goal!

Samuel Boux in the Hotel California

One of my favorite models to cover on FH is Montreal's Samuel Boux. I am sure you will remember Samuel and his music from my previous posts featuring the work of photographer Chris Teel who introduced me to Samuel earlier this year. Samuel moved to California this past summer and recently met up with Fearless Project creator Justin Violini when he visited the St. Francis Hotel while in San Francisco. Be sure to see more of the hot shots and read more about the shoot over at The Fearless Project HERE:

'Fearless' at the Beach

For many, this time of year is a sad time with summer coming to an end. To others, who mind the heat and humidity, the end of summer is almost like the beginning of a year. The fall and it's cool whether almost feels like the start of something. Funny how the same time of year can be the end for some and the beginning for others.

Summer is ending, but 'The Fearless Project' is really only just getting started, so much still to come.

There are only a matter of weeks left of good beach weather and for many the beach can be a place where fears arise. Fears of exposing what they feel are their 'not so perfect bodies', fear of the water, fear of looking silly playing in the sand like you did when you were a kid. 'The Fearless Project' is also about facing these fears and looking at them in new ways. 'Fearless Project' creator Justin Violini recently woke up from a beachy nap from the slapping of paddles and instinctively grabbed his phone in a daze...'it was very surreal.'

As adults we convince ourselves beaches are 'for the perfect', but if we can take ourselves back to when we were younger, we know it really is just the opposite. Beaches when your young are about endless summers without teachers and schools, staring at someone your crushing over as you pretend to read your book, carefree time with friends and family vacations. Many have their first erotic or sexual thoughts or experiences on or in sand... The beach has nothing to do with how you look, it is all about how you feel.

The guy in these shots doesn't care about anything about living the moment. Fear frequently makes us miss moments. With only a limited amount of beach time left FH and 'The Fearless Project' challenge those who avoid the beach to try have some fun in the sun before the fall comes. Wear that bathing suit you have avoided all summer, build a sand castle, run in the waves like you don't have a care in the world, be fearless!

Michael Neulinger for 'The Fearless Project'

Kremlin Konfidential: Michael Neulinger
By Justin Violini

Story and Photos by Justin Violini from 'The Fearless Project' Blog.

'So with the new Lomo LC-A+ RL camera I bought I wanted to start another on going series of tests, editorials, events of my life pictures on that 35mm film. Calling it Kremlin Konfidential in the sense that A) obviously the camera is Russian but B) that some of the images are private looks into my life or the subject's and yet as with the fall of the U.S.S.R. many of the secrets and covert plans were made public to the masses.

This first test roll I wanted to use the flash (the Diana doesn't have one) and really play with that so most of these pictures were shot in near darkness which resulted in Michael nor myself really knowing when each other was ready for each shot. I have a few rolls of film that I want to test how grainy and what not each roll is. My end result is hopefully to put together a larger series which is an updated, modern, chic version of Lord of the Flies in New York and also a Patti Smith inspired shoot at The Chelsea Hotel'
.

'Michael Neulinger is an Austrian model who is currently in NY for a few months and wanted to do something "raw, dark, sexy" that he previously wasn't able to do with very commercial projects in the past. I told him he would come over, get naked and be only wearing sneakers and underwear...neither of us seemed to have a problem with that. Germans, Austrians, Russians, Eastern Europeans I looooove the idea of them in that track warm up style jacket and pants with some awesome sneakers. This is a paired down version of that.'
Justin Violini

Justin shot Michael in total darkness with the brief light from the flash the only way for model and photographer to connect. Although Many photographers spend hours editing to get the perfect shot there is something so raw and sexy about these shots. These are test/previews shots. A full editorial shoot will be coming out in Fiasco next month.

Fearless Videos

Above: Billy Scharnikow

I have posted before about Justin Violini & the Fearless Project.

"The Fearless Project is an art and cultural initiative bringing together artists, outsiders, thinkers, musicians, designers, writers, creatives: anyone who has ever had the urge to do something outside of their comfort zone."

One of my favorites, Greg Kelley. See more of Greg on FH HERE:

"When we fear things I think that we wish for them ... every fear hides a wish." - David Mamet

Combining ones primal fears, raw sexuality and the artistry of not only Justin, but the models and artists who are sending in their own work has led to a incredible collection of amazing images, stories and videos. Here are three of my favorite videos from the project. You can check out more at the Fearless YouTube Channel HERE:

Shane Coleman: Fearless in Toronto

Above: Diana 120mm shot

The Fearless Project's Justin Violini just came off a whirl wind tour of Canada meeting up with some of the countries hottest and of course fearless men. Here, Justin photographs the adorable Shane Coleman in Toronto.

'Beautiful body, chiseled face, winning smile and fearless attitude in front of the camera.'
Justin on Shane

Justin says his scheduling and time was way off and almost did not shoot Shane. All Justin wanted was a nap but he and Shane were texting back and forth and eventually Shane came over and they got right down to business! The results are some of my favorite shots from Justin's trip. Shane is planning on making his way to NY soon to book some shoots and see what the city holds for him.

'Fearless' Updates!

Have you been stopping by The Fearless Project lately? If you have not you have been missing out on Tommy Herd, Johnny Fresh and so much more!!!!

If you ask your model to hold a riding crop are you copying Rick Day? If you shoot a polaroid are you trying to be Jeremy Kost?

Imitation may be the sincerest of flattery, it might be to honor an artist whose work you love or admire. It also might not be imitation at all. Fearless creator Justin Violini is not a fan of one sided comparisons. When he recently met up with supermodel Tommy Herd he decided to take a frequent comparison (one in which his work is compared to Kost's) and throw it on it's ear.

"Basically it's pretty easy for people who want to dismiss
something to just do a comparison. Kost shoots Polaroids and so do
I...but so does Araki, Mikael Kennedy, Chris Makos and more.
So I was like okay here. Kost just shot Tommy so I will bring him over
for a shoot. But instead of shooting him I shot all his clothes on my
bed."

Tommy never looked so hot!

Below: LOVE love these shots of Johnny Fresh!
