Favorite Out-Take of the Day: Dominic Cooper

I became a fan of Dominic Cooper after seeing his performance in 'The History Boys'. What a pleasant surprise to see these pics from a cut scene from Mamma Mia! (Thanks to the orginial poster who shared the pics!). So hot!

Favorite Import of the Day: Dima Bilan

There is something so hot about 27 year old Russian pop star Dima Bilan. Bilan represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with "Never Let You Go", finishing second, and he won the contest in 2008, with the song "Believe" (See video below).



Even as a young boy, all around him were aware of his remarkable musical abilities. Dima began participating in singing contests while still in school and his focus on his music led him to huge success. Dima has continued to release music and has branched out to tv and acting recently. His openess to showcasing his huge sex appeal has only added to his fan base. End of an Era

The axe is hitting soaps hard. Big named soap stars are being given their walking papers, or being asked to take pay cuts big time lately. It is really no wonder, they can blame the economy, the lack of viewers, but really I hope someone finally see's before it is too late that one of the keys is the really poor writing.

I have not watched any daytime soap in awhile, but I do have fond memories of The Young and The Restless years ago. That was a time when Brad was romancing Traci, Lauren and Ashley and was frequently shirtless or in a speedo. The firing of Don Diamont is notable as Don is without a doubt the all time king of soap hunks. The Young and The Restless slaps viewers in the face daily lately by cutting most of it's core families (The beloved Abbott's are virtually gone) and female viewers must find it hard to see that almost all the men, mostly over 50 are running around with women in their 20's and 30's. What female viewer enjoys that shoved down their throats... At one time Brad was attracted to the insecure overweight Traci Abbott (Played so well by Beth Maitland). But Beth and Traci are no more, today, the writers can only put Brad and other other older men on the show with pencil thin actress's with questionable acting skills, though great hair... Maybe the cuts are a good thing, but I would suggest keeping the actors and if cleaning house and cutting costs must start, begin with the writers.

Person Most in need of a quick retirement: Barbara Walters

Ok Babs the gig is just about up. I understand that 'The View' is the tv show I most complain about but yesterdays show has taken it off my tivo. As I have said before I hated the show til the Rosie year. That was a year I did not want to miss. I also came back to watch much of the 'hot topics' during this past election year. Whoopi Goldberg has proven a great stable moderator, although even when cutting off the others (usually Elizabeth) She certainly ensures her voice is heard, usually last.

But I can no longer watch this show when Barbara Walters decides to grace the panel. Her sole role lately has been to plug her various projects. Barbara Walters make sure to remind us of her importance in the evolution of women in tv news. So much so that she is on the brink of ruining whatever positive things she might have done. In the past year she has relentlessly pluged her freakin book (even though she publicly called Star Jones on plugging her wedding...) Made snide comments about Rosie not letting things go (Was it not BW on Oprah discussing Rosie....) Yesterday Barbara made countless plugs for her show this Thursday night on the 10 Most Fascinating people. (Tom Cruise? Will Smith? Miley Cyrus? Please!!!) Although there are a few people I do like on the show, none are worth having to put up with Barbara for an extra hour during the week. BTW: I will be shocked if her #1 is anyone but Obama. If Barbara really wanted to be current, and professional, how great would it have been to put Rosie on the 10 Most Fascinating show. That would have been something!

When I was a kid I loved her on 20/20, loved her celebrity specials, but the woman has lost her ability to make any type of impact. Maybe it is daytime tv. Daytime tv ruined the reputation of the great reporting Geraldo Rivera was known for before his horrible show. Rikki Lake lost her reputation as a great actress when she was on daily.

Barbara, move on to simply producing PLEASE!!! Even your co-hosts cannot hide their annoyance with you. Whoopi tries hard, but you can see her seething when Babs decides to interupt her with another plug or stupid comments. BW always must remind us of days the show was pretaped like we are idiots who cannot figure out the women are not all sitting there on Fridays and Holidays. Please, you are a blast from the past who is not able to remain current. Your blithering on and on just slows down the pace of the show and takes it from a topical show to something unwatchable. Time to take Cha Cha and move on.
