Mark MacKillop in Rm. XIV

One morning last spring, I got up and did what I do most mornings. After checking my phone, shoving down my Oatmeal and banana and dealing with the menagerie, I sat down with my computer to check my e-mail and facebook. On that particular morning I was wonderfully welcomed into the day by the incredible image above of actor, dancer and model Mark MacKillop.

'Surprisingly, traveling with 30 cast members and a 30-piece orchestra left me feeling, at times, incredibly isolated and lonely.'

I had to save the image. With his background in dance, Mark is able to glide into the most beautiful and elegant poses. This image in particular, with the natural light from the window behind glistening over his incredible body had me virtually joining him, if only for a brief moment of fantasy, in Rm. XIV. I have been following Mark's career, as both a model and actor, on FH since 2009 and this self-portrait was without a doubt one of my favorite images of hm.

Over the next few months, Mark continued to share similar images. Mark was on an international tour of West Side Story, playing Riff. The musical took him to major cites across Europe and Israel. Each town or city, meant a new temporary home, a hotel room to both decompress and re-energize in between performances. Rather than a written diary, MacKillop chronicled his downtime with an iPhone camera, taking over 80 high-quality, expertly composed black-and-white/color self-portraits in various hotel rooms (and very little clothing).

The response from friends, fans and followers was overwhelming and they were united in wanting to see more! Mark eventually decided to publish a coffee table book, where the entirety of his portraiture could find a tangible home. Entitled “Rm. XIV,” the collection will host an introduction by Broadway performer, pop singer, film and television actor Billy Porter, winner of the 2013 Tony Award® for Best Actor in a Musical for his star turn as Lola in Kinky Boots. And a foreword by renowned New York artist Robert W. Richards, who in May completed a curation of 20th-Century erotic illustrations at Manhattan’s Leslie-Lohman Museum.

A portion of the proceeds from each book are being donated to Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids. For information about this amazing organization visit broadwaycares.org

The Best Of Broadway Cares!

Whitney Osentoski

It's that time of year again, time for one of my favorite events of the season, Broadway Bares! Once again this year, Broadway Bares kicks off with a pre-show, Broadway Bares Stripathon taking place this Sunday night in the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City! The 9:30pm show is already sold out, but head on over to the main Stripathon site as there are still tickets left for the midnight show!

Some of my favorite men of Broadway are singing, dancing and of course stripping at this Sunday's event! Here, I am featuring some of my favorite Hunks of Broadway, all of whom I have featured over the years on the blog. Although you might not be able to make the show, you can still donate to the great cause until Friday Night.

Aids is not over and each of these talented performers have been pulling out all the stops for donations to support the cause.  Some, like Ricky Ricky Schroeder (currently touring the country with Kinky Boots) and Mark MacKillop are releasing images to temp people for a vote. Mark has been releasing some very hot shots on social media including some never seen before shots, including a few from his recent book, Rm XIV. The great Dave August is even promising to send on a link to his 2011 solo strip on Fire Island. I have made a couple of donations, but check out some of the men below and consider making one of your own!

Mark Mackillop: Broadway Bares Stripathon

The first time I noticed the powerful allure of dancer, actor, singer and model Mark Mackillop was back in 2009.  I saw his images with photographer Carl Proctor, (also making his first FH appearance) immediately put together a feature for the site choosing some of my favorite shots of Mark.

Since then,  I've continued to love featuring Mark's work on stage and in front of the camera.  I especially enjoy covering Mark's uncovering each year during Broadway Bares. Mark is again this year taking part in Broadway Bares, benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The money raised provides lifesaving medications, nutritious meals, health care, counseling, emergency financial assistance and so much more to men, women and children in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., living with HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses.

To support Mark's efforts, and to support Broadway Cares, please check out his fundraising page HERE: Donating is quick and easy and if Mark raises enough, maybe he'll send back some images from the event for FH readers to enjoy!

Home For Christmas: Mark MacKillop

Above: Mark by Keiko Guest Photography

I realize that Home From Christmas sounds like a Hallmark Movie featuring Valerie Bertinelli taking on a very dramatic turn... but, when I think of actor, dancer, singer and model Mark MacKillop I can't help but thinking of Christmas and more specifically, The Nutcracker.

Most dancers, ballet dancers especially, know that the holiday season usually begins in the summer or early fall with auditions for the Christmas show season which usually runs anytime between late October or November through January. Mark has spent the last few holiday seasons involved with the production but is hoping to take this holiday season off.

Currently living in New York, Mark was born and raised in Vancouver BC. He grew up in the theatre, and with plans to pursue musical theatre and at the age of 17, took the advice of a friend and started taking ballet. Three years later he was hired to dance with the Atlanta Ballet, the oldest continually running ballet company in North America.

After only six months Mark performed his first principle role as Paris in Romeo and Juliet. In the summer of 2010 Mark was invited to perform the role of Espada, the lead matador, as a guest principle Artist in Japan in Don Quixote. It was Atlanta where Mark was living when I first profiled him in 2009. After three years in Atlanta Mark decided to move to New York to return to his roots performing in musical theatre on Broadway.

Since returning to New York, Mark has been working with some of the cities leading photographers including Andrew Werner, Tim Wilkerson, Rick Day and Walter Kurtz. Mark shoots with Walter on a fairly regular basis and as usual Walter has nailed some incredible portraits!

Broadway Bared

Although James Franco and Alex Minsky are getting a lions share of the press, Broadway Bares is about the actors, dancers and singers who work their asses off putting together hot sweaty and show stopping numbers for the cause. A just released Highlight reel (below) shows some of the nights show stoppers including many FH favorites. I hope to post more, but below is a great start with the tall hunk a hunk of burning love Brandon Rubendall and one of the Champion's, Mark MacKillop.

New Face Of The Day: Mark MacKillop

Model Mark MacKillop lives in Atlanta but he hails beautiful British Columbia Canada. While growing up Mark was surrounded by culture and creativity. Mark put these to good use by getting on a stage whenever he could. Singing, acting, dancing. Although initially Mark sought a career in Musical Theatre, he ended up with a passion for dance and it was ballet that took Mark to work with the Boston Ballet and American Ballet Theatre in New York on full scholarship. Mark then went to Atlanta to train and was offered a position alongside the Atlanta Ballet.

I love Mark's look. Strong, masculine and sexy. Beautiful face and hair and of course that killer dancers body. You can check out more about Mark at his official site HERE:
