White Dress Shirt: John Quinlan by Sandra Kimball

For close to 20 years John Quinlan has made fitness and nutrition two of his passions. Originally a university baseball player, John quickly moved from baseball to bodybuilding and has maintained this focus since.

Having lived in the world of bodybuilding, not to mention professional wrestling and fitness modeling, John is often required to take his shirt off. In competitions, bodybuilders wear little more than posing oil and a tan to ensure they can properly show off muscle definition and body symmetry for the judges.

Those who have a passion for fitness know however that looking good undressed is only part of it, looking incredible in clothes is equally important. When I was going through John's modeling portfolio these shots by Massachusetts based photographer Sandra Kimball were some of my favorites. Sandra's shots of John, although partially covered by the simple, yet sexy white dress shirt, show off his hard work beautifully. Besides showcasing how well he fills out the shirt, the shoot also showcases the personality and beauty of John's face, not always as easily seen in traditional posing shots.

Also highlighted in this shoot are John's two stomach tattoo's. John has eleven strategically placed tattoos, all in black and white. John's tattoo's have a Oriental and Celtic cross theme, including two half-sleeve tattoos and six Kanji characters that are used in the modern Japanese logo graphic writing system.

'My numerous tattoos are all unique and all very special to me. Those tattoos you speak of.....the custom tribal sun symbolizes fire, the fire that burns inside me to keep going and the barb wire that wraps around it represents what we have to break through to get there. The oriental writing next to it means....courage, the courage to follow your dreams and never give up.'
