Blast from the Past: Robert Forster

As I said in the previous piece, when I first watched Alligator, I wasn't immediately familiar with it's lead, actor Robert Forster.   There was though, something incredibly sexy about him, something clearly others had noticed long before I watched the 1980 beast on the move cult classic.

I quick trip to Forster's IMDB page however, told me I had seen the actor, more than a few times, in movies before.  The New York born actor got his start on television in the late 1950's.  Some of his early roles included turns on shows including: Wagon Train, Banyon, Medical Story, Police Story and Standing Tall.

Although Forster continued to appear on television, his film career took off in the sixties with notable roles in; The Black Hole, The Delta Force, Mulholland Drive, Me Myself and Irene and The Descendants.   Forster was nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actor for his role as Max Cherry in 1997's Jackie Brown.  Forester continued to work steadily until his death from a brain tumor in 2019. Throughout his career, the actor had a handful of nude scenes, the two below being my favorite.

American Perfekt 1997

Sandra meets a shrink on the way to picking up her sister at a desert town to continue to their mom. He decides by flipping a coin. The coin flipping gets psycho.

Vigilante 1982

After his wife and son got brutalized by a street gang, and a corrupt criminal justice system puts the perpetrators back on the street, a NYC factory worker teams up with a vigilante group to find some measure of bloody justice.
