Kudos to Manny Jacinto

'We can’t wait for somebody else to do it. If we want bigger stories out there, we have to make them for ourselves.'

Kudos to the beautiful and talented Manny Jacinto for calling out the producers and director of Top Gun: Maverick for cutting his role down to only a few seconds, and a few seconds with no lines.  I know it's happens in every film, and to many actors, many performances end up on the cutting room floor for story reasons and mostly due to time constraints.

That being true, doesn't discount the fact that Jacinto, and several other actors of color, appear to have been hired to show diversity, yet only as background.  They might have as well not have bothered to hire a name actor like Jacinto, only to use them as a glorified extra. Tom Cruise's movies are rarely that diverse, and although Top Gun Maverik had several actors of color, they didn't really have to be ready for their close-ups.
