'A renowned romance novelist famous becomes involved in a love triangle between her childhood crush and a reporter.'
The opening scene of 2022's Must Love Christmas is one of the corniest, lame scenes I've ever seen in a Hallmark Christmas film. The twist was, it was just a writer's dream, and the actual film was actually pretty good. A secondary twist is that when I went to research the film, it wasn't actually a Hallmark production, but a film made by FuboTV.
The main twist for me however, was my introduction to actor Neal Bledsoe. In scanning his resume, I've certainly seen him in movies and television shows before, but he really grabbed my attention in this film. First off, he's gorgeous, and really engaging on screen. Secondly, his character Nick in the film was more than the usual one dimensional male characters in most holiday rom-coms.
Although his turn in Must Love Christmas was more than enough for me to want to spotlight him, there was more I wanted to celebrate. The Toronto born Bledsoe was one of many Hallmark stars who seemingly left the Channel for Great American Family. Blesoe made two films for the network in 2022, The Winter Palace and Christmas at the Drive-In. With the second movie, the actor purposely chose to be silent while the film was being promoted.
Bledsoe decided he couldn't continue with 'business as usual' and was not comfortable with the leadership of the network and some of the comments made by some of it's stars. Bledsoe refused to go along with, or excuse the the division the network was promoting. Although he stated that everyone is entitled to their beliefs, his beliefs were that the comments were hurtful and wrong. Bledsoe made a public statement of his own, seemingly, in response to those made by Great American Family's Candace Cameron Bure.
'The recent comments made by leadership at Great American Family are hurtful, wrong, and reflect an ideology that prioritizes judgment over love. I could never forgive myself for continuing my relationship with a network that actively chooses to exclude the LGBTQIA+ community.'
Smash
Although I wouldn't consider this an official 'nude scene', Bledsoe did show a 'hint' of butt crack in 2020 western, A Soldier's Revenge. Thanks to ausCAPS for the caps!
