If you're like me, sometimes while watching television, you'll see a great face that draws you in, and has you wanting to see more. Given I work on FH, that means heading on-line to learn more. That's exactly what happened with a recent viewing of Devil's Night, the Halloween episode of Elsbeth.
I love Carrie Preston, and really loved her portrayal of Elsbeth on The Good Wife and The Good Fight. I hadn't watched before, but given my love of Halloween, thought that spooky themed episode would be a good place to start. I'm not so sure Elsbeth is suited as a lead on a series, but a character better suited for sporadically placed guest appearances.... But, I did enjoy the episode.
I do love that Elsbeth is shot in New York, and isn't one of the many L.A based shows that uses green screen to get the 'feel' of New York. I also love that New York and east coast shows often feature Broadway and stage actors, something I used to love about The Good Wife. One of those stage actors featured in Devil's night was the incredibly handsome actor Dan Hoy.
Hoy only appeared briefly in the show, but he had me heading to IMDB. His turn on Elsbeth marked his first official screen credit. Not his first credit as an actor however, as he has a long list of theatre credits. Some of his appearances include roles in; Harmony, The Glass Menagerie, Pippin, Next To Normal, Rock of Ages, Sweeney Todd and Into The Woods. Hoy also kept his beautiful body toned squeezing into his tight Munkustrap suit during his time touring with Cats. Next up for Hoy will be appearing in The Pirates of Penzance, opening next spring on Broadway.
