Jason Ritter: Finally!

There are some actors I've known of and watched for years, but at a distance.   I've known of actor Jason Ritter since first seeing on screen in Swimfan in 2002.  Yet, despite how many roles he's played, and how many movies and television shows he's been in, I've never really gotten into to many of the projects he's been a part of.

There were certainly projects Jason was in that  I really should have watched, or been a fan of.  I mean I started watching Joan of Arcadia and Parenthood, but never got back the first few episodes.   Except for a few guest roles on sitcoms, and his turn as Otis in Happy Endings, (2005) a gay character trying to hide his sexuality from his father, somehow I've not seen much of Ritter's work.

Still, that doesn't mean I didn't take notice of his adorable face, and have featured him in birthday posts on the site a few times.  I also follow him on social media, and especially love some of his posts about his wife, the incredibly talented and beautiful Melanie Lynskey.  As adorable as ever at 45, I finally connected with a show this summer that Jason is a part of.

I put off watching Matlock last season, mainly because like many, I didn't have positive feelings about the original.   Now to be fair, I never watched a minute of the original version with Andy Griffith, but it was a show both my parents sat down to watch when I was a kid.  That was enough to turn me off.  Then, over the last few months, I read about the 'twist' and saw the great reviews, and acclaim that Kathy Bates has been getting, and finally, this past June, started to watch.

Happy Endings

Matlock is really a female driven show, with strong performances by both Bates and Skye P. Marshall.  Ritter does get a few moments to shine, and I'm hoping he has a bit more to do in the second season.  He's a really welcoming and likable television actor and deserves more story to really shine.  Ritter isn't the only hottie on the legal procedural, there's also the equally adorable David Del Rio and the intensely sexy Andrew Ghai who guest starred as A.D.A Andrew Park in three of the first season's episodes.  The good thing about waiting to watch a network show, is that I have just one episode in season one to finish before the second season begins next month.

Although Ritter's had several butt baring scenes, my favorite is in the 2007 drama, The Education of Charlie Banks. (below)
