Love who you want to love
Mark Carney
I think 2016 was a banner year for Toronto Pride. First, we had Adam, (see more H
ERE) the hot and naked snake charmer baring and parading. 2016 was also the year Justin Trudeau became the first sitting Prime Minster of Canada to march in a Pride parade. Trudeau went on to participate in Pride events in other cities including Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax. The PM also continued the tradition when he was able in subsequent years. When he couldn't, due to commitments, and when the pandemic cancelled the event, he sent on virtual messages of support to the LBGTQ community.
Former Prime Minister Joe Clark also addended a Pride parade, marching in the Calgary Pride Parade in 2001. Clark however was out of office at the time. It was nice to see current PM Mark Carney containing the tradition at last weekend's Toronto Pride celebrations. Carney seemed to enjoy his afternoon and given the heat, also welcomed getting pelted by water squirters by those along the parade route.
