Since my first post on Ken back in 2007 his only additional credit appears to be in an episode of Criminal Minds. Given Ken was a part of the original 'V' can we look forward to his making an appearance on th updated version?


Ken Olandt hit tv screens in the early 80's guesting on many tv shows of the time. He is had roles on tons of shows and was a regular on Super Force, SuperCarrier, Riptide and The Young and The Restless. Ken also showed up in movies including Leprechaun and April Fools Day. These days Ken is mostly producing with the odd acting gig. With all his tv and movie roles, I would bet most people know Ken best from his stripping scene in the Mark Harmon movie Summer School. I know that scene was a fav of mine.

Ken Olandt in A Time to Revenge

'A modern day version of the old Western story of a big rancher buying up all the smaller ranches, doing whatever necessary to achieve this and a group of men willing to fight back.'

Last week, I paid homage to Carl Reiner, and his direction of 1987's Summer School. ( Thanks Carl Reiner).  Specifically, I highlighted the scene in the male strip club featuring the adorably hot Ken Olandt.  At the time of writing, I had thought Carl Reiner, gave audiences their only view of Ken and his fine behind.  I was wrong.

Thanks to a poster on DC, I learned that Ken had another butt baring scene, this time, without the g-string.  A decade later, in the 1997 Western drama, A Time to Revenge, Olandt played Will, and Will loved having sex in the barn, by the campfire, almost every location you'd expect a randy cowboy to whip his chaps off in.

Olandt was 29 when he played the high school stripper in Summer School, and he was close to 39 when he made A Time to Revenge.  I had really only seen and check out Olandt's appearances during the late 80's and enjoyed seeing him a little older and a little more rugged than he appeared during his time as a twenty-something 'teen idol'.

When the great Carl Reiner died last month, many wrote about his incredible contributions to the entertainment industry.  Most, left off a movie very familiar to us gay boys growing up in the eighties...  Yes, Reiner, was directed many award winning projects, but he also directed a booty shakin Ken Olandt in 1987's Summer School.

'My audition for Carl was about as short as it could be. After I read my lines Carl had me do some dance moves. I did the one move Tony Fields showed me, to which Carl yelled "THAT'S ENOUGH!!" . On the set he was our Grandfather, pal, and best friend. His warmth and caring for people is unique. Not long ago, he was being honored and I got the opportunity to see him and thank him for what he made happen in my life. Onward Carl!'

I remember seeing Summer School on VHS when I was a kid, and I certainly remember Ken's caboose and rewinding the strip club club scene far too many times...  I also remember, at the time, thinking Mark Harmon was old, and hairy, and saw nothing appealing about him.  Age certainly has a way of changing perspective, as when I recently went back to check out the film, I was certainly h ot for Harmon!

The image above is a recent shot off Ken.  As you can see, now at 62, he hasn't lost any of his charm or sex appeal.

And the VHS to DVD transfer rears it's ugly head again...  I thought I remembered Olandt's g-string revealing a bit more than it did in the HD version of the film I recently watch.  Low and behold, thanks to SOMS, and a clip from the VHS release, you can see a bit more of Ken than in the current available version of the film.  Carl Reiner's directing (and Olandt's ass)  deserved more respect! ;)

12 Days: Ken Olandt in April Fool's Day

'Don't let the joke be on you....'

As a fan of the adorable Ken Olandt, I featured his two nude scenes previously on the site.  Most have seen and enjoyed Ken's g-string stripper scene from 1987's Summer School. (HERE:)  Ken also bared his butt ten years later in 199'7's A Time to Revenge. (HERE:)  Although there's nudity in the 80's film April Fool's Day, Ken does have a couple of shirtless scenes, and a scene in his tighty whities. 

'Nine college students staying at a friend's remote island mansion begin to fall victim to an unseen murderer over the April Fool's Day weekend, but nothing is as it seems. '

Olandt plays Rob in the 1986 horror flick which also features actors Jay Baker, Clayton Rohner, Griffin O'Neal and Amy Steel.   The film has a twist ending that's a little predictable,  but was ok, especially given it's one of the few films focused on April 1st.  I noticed there's a more recent film with the same title featuring actor Josh Henderson.  I'm not sure if it's a remake or a new story, but I might have to check it out before next April roles around again.
