Southern Windowlight: Rory by JW Johnson

'The southern windowlight really made his beautiful green eyes dance and shimmer...'

My love of visuals of the male form includes images featuring the entire form.  I've seen so many images, and so many shoots, with a limited and stubbornly fixed focus.  The focus is usually the penis, with the rest of the model's body acting more like a picture frame and not an essential part of art.   I tend to gravitate towards images in which the penis is just a piece of the puzzle, and not the main attraction in each and every image.

What I loved about this series of Rory by JW Johnson, was the focus on a body part often ignored, the pubic hair.  As beautiful as Rory's face and body (and penis) are, I found myself visually drawn to Rory's ginger bush in almost every image.   The hair on both Rory's head, and crotch are a beautiful shade of ginger, and because of the location where JW shot, the light from the window really lit and highlighted their beauty.

I'm not sure why so many  models seem to manscape, or why so many photographers want them to before a shoot.  A little trim is great, but I can't imagine shooting Rory without his ginger pubes as the portal to what lies just below.  I guess some artists want a symmetry of skin, but the pop of color from man's bush can be incredibly hot.

JW clearly had Rory's ginger's bush in mind when he chose not just the location, but the colors he contrasted against it.  JW shares that he especially loved the blue long johns that looked especially beautiful alongside Rory's skin and ginger coloring.  JW strived to make sure that both Rory's poses, and the angles he captured, ensured the light steaming through the windows hit just the right area's on Rory's body as it cascaded down over it.

Rory is from the Nashville area, and drove down to shoot with JW in Hot Spring.  They'd been talking on-line for awhile about working together and Rory was looking for some shots to submit for work both print and video work.  Because of his full time job, it wasn't until late in the day that Rory could head down, so it was after dark before he arrived to shoot.  Given the late hour, they headed to Outback Steakhouse to eat and relax, and get to know each other, and discuss what they'd shoot the next day.
They began shooting about mid-morning the following day, and given the light streaming in the window, began with this series of shots.

'I really liked his red hair and facial hair, as well as his smiling eyes, he had a very easy going, laid back attitude that I think really comes across.  The switched up Rory's wardrobe and the background a bit until the light began to move away from the window.'

Rory had shaved off his full beard just a week before the shoot, but hadn't shaved again since, which JW was grateful for.  James really felt Rory's facial hair added to his charm and personality and the way he flirted with the camera.  After their long morning shoot, Rory took a quick shower, and then they headed out to shoot the location shots on the previous page.

Given the cold temperatures, JW didn't want to keep Rory outside posing for too long.  When they headed back inside, they warmed up, had a quick bite, then took some more erotic shots on the bed, with JW enduring to capture close-ups of all of Roy's body parts the film producers would definitely want to see...
