'When you go out on auditions for big movies, and you're not a big star, you get used to getting close but not getting the part. I was never the best-looking guy; I was never the Tom Cruise-looking guy'
Craig Sheffer
Maybe Sheffer wasn't the Tom Cruise-looking guy, but to me, he's a much more interesting actor, and one who exudes far more sexual energy on screen. As I stated in the previous piece, Sheffer hasn't done a whole of on-screen nudity, not that I could find anyway. Despite appearing in a few 'softcore' flicks, his nude scenes are mostly shot from the side, without a decent butt or full frontal shot. There are a few interesting scenes, and a few interesting images however, that were worthy of chronicling.
I believe the 2 images, (above & below) were shot by the famed photographer of the male form Greg Gorman. Although I could confirm my suspicion, they look very much like similar photos Gorman took while shooting promotional shots from the 1997 flick Bliss.
I found the image above thanks to xyzpdq and Scenes of Male Skin. Unfortunately I couldn't identify what it was from and who the other actor was. Thanks again to xyzpdq and poster mloomis6 from Dreamcap, the mystery was solved.
The other actor was Scott Plank, an actor many may know from Miami Vice, A Chorus Line and Holes. Sadly Plank died in 2003 from injuries sustained from a car accident. The image is a promotional shot from a 1988 staging of the play G.R. Point in Los Angeles.
' A troubled young man is drawn to a mythical place called Midian where a variety of friendly monsters are hiding from humanity. Meanwhile, a sadistic serial killer is looking for a patsy.'
Although Clive Barker's horror flick Nighbreed, (1990) didn't light up the box office when it first came out, it has developed a passionate cult following over the years since it's release. It also seems the original cut, (snipped from the DVD and directors cut) may have captured Sheffer's only on-screen frontal. Although edited out of subsequent releases, the VHS release was thankfully capped (below) by a few lovers of the male form in cinema.
'Deforestation of the Amazon is forcing indigenous Indians away, so few men can profit from cattle. Opposition gets killed. A US photojournalist tries to investigate. Activist Alyssa helps him.'
'A newly married happy couple visits a sex therapist to determine why the wife can't achieve an orgasm with her husband. This causes a horrific suppressed memory to emerge and she becomes more and more distant.'
