Actor In A Leading Role: 🎥

Nominees:
Adrien Brody: The Brutalist
Timothée Chalamet: A Complete Unknown
Colman Domingo: Sing Sing
Ralph Fiennes: Conclave
Sebastian Stan: The Apprentice

If you want to check out my previous posts on the nominees, just click their name above.  I decided this year, to focus on a nude scene from nominee Sebastian Stan that I don't think I featured before.  I've been lusting after Stan ever since first seeing him on screen in The Covenant. (HERE:)

My crush turned to becoming a huge fan and respecting Stan's work after watching him in the one and only season of Political Animals.  I loved the Sigourney Weaver led drama, and Stan was great as her gay son.  As much as I love Stan, I could not bring myself to watch The Apprentice.  I'm sure he's great, but I have ZERO interest in seeing anything related to the hateful, racist asshole, currently occupying the White House.

The Bronze (2015)

For this piece, I chose Stan's gymnastic sex scene from the 2015 sports comedy The Bronze.   Actress and writer Melissa Raunch as admitted most of her parts in the scene were done by a body double who was a Cirque du Soleil dancer.  Although I'm sure Stan used a body double for some of this scene, (I'd love to know his body doubles name...) Raunch states Stan actually did much of what we saw on screen.

'We wrote it as ‘the most crazy epic gymnastic sex scene ever. It really was a porno script, essentially. But Sebastian was so fantastic and he went for so much of it. He could have just said, ‘Have my body double do it,’ and instead he came to set in his robe and said, ‘Okay, let’s do this.’
Melissa Raunch

'Every time I slammed into her, I was like, ‘Oh my God, are you okay?’ And she was like, ‘Just go for it!'

Picnic: Sebastian Stan

Picnic
Broadway 2013
American Airlines Theatre
Hal Carter played by Sebastian Stan

Thanks to the Internet, one of the most visually seen depictions of Hal Carter was that of actor Sebastian Stan.  Joining Stan on-stage for the 2013 production were; Maggie Grace, Ellen Burstyn, Mare Winningham, and Ben Rappaport as Alan.  Also in the cast was a pre Abbot Elementary Chris Perfetti playing Bomer.

Those rippled abs deserve the attention they, and certainly brought the heat to the small Kansas town. I still remember contemplating a return to New York after seeing the promotional shots of Stan that were released on-line.  Those abs also caught the attention New York Times critic Ben Brantley.

'The Roundabout Theater Company’s revival of William Inge’s “Picnic” opened on Sunday night, starring an exceptionally well-developed torso. Of course the torso belongs to a person, the actor Sebastian Stan. But it has been given the kind of lavish individual attention that would seem to warrant above-the-title billing. Presented au naturel or in a tight shirt ripped at the chest by an admirer (leaving a strategic view of a nipple), it’s a sight that arouses dangerous longings in lonely bosoms. From the moment it makes its first entrance, this is a torso named Trouble.'

Gilloolied

Gilloolied:

-to kneecap someone
-anything that is incredibly ill conceived
-mismanaged, incompetently handled or poorly executed.

Never thought I would ever be crushing over mustached douchebag Jeff Gillooly, but when played by Sebastian Stan, I found myself doing just that. In I, Tonya, Stan skillfully plays the abusive idiot to perfection, and although I hated the character, no amount of facial hair and make-up could hide the sexy side of Sebastian. The entire cast of I, Tonya was superb, starting with the brilliant performance by Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding. I love me some Allison Janney, but I sometimes thought she played it a bit broad, but then again, the woman she played was 'over the top'.

Political Animals with Sigourney Weaver and James Wolk

I haved loved Sebastian Stan since his turn on Political Animals, and still mourn the show's cancellation. The Romanian born actor has been working steadily on stage, TV and film since Political Animals left the air, most notably as Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier in The Captain America films, but I, Tonya really gave him a great platform to showcase his considerable acting skills. It also gave us a brief, very brief (I mean very) shot of the top of his well toned butt while Harding humping.

Harding and Gillooly

I, Tonya gives a fascinating peek at Tonya's life during her time in the lime light, and spotlight, while skating professionally. Although the film doesn't necessarily strive to have us like her, it does succeed in having us understand, and totally relate to the strong, but hardened woman we saw on the ice. I never found Nancy Kerrigan a particularly likable or compelling figure, and I, Tonya wisely has Kerrigan as a relatively minor piece of the drama, and of Tonya's life.

Favorite Click of the Week: Sebastian Stan in Monday

When Mickey is introduced to Chloe one hot summer night in Athens, the attraction between the pair is immediately palpable -- so palpable that before they know it they're waking up naked on the beach on Saturday morning.

Fans of the male form have been buzzing about actor Sebastian Stan and the film Monday for almost a year now.  Stills of Stan filming his nude scene were released last year, but due to the pandemic, the film was delayed until this week.  Last night at midnight, it finally came out, and thankfully, many watched and shared what the rest of us will watch later this weekend.  You can check out more caps from the scene on Xander7's site HERE:
