Conrad, Kerwin & Haggerty

Although I'm only at episode #3, this one made me feel old.  This episode aired 47 years ago, with actor Billy Crystal looking like a teenager.  Billy was on the sit-com Soap at the time playing the gay character Jodie Dallas.  Speaking of Dallas, although Patrick Duffy is featured here, this was before he started playing Bobby Ewing.  Duffy was underwater at the time on The Man From Atlantis.

Conrad

Lyle Waggoner

Jamie Farr

As I usually do, I included an introduction of the swimmers in the relay race in the video below. I never thought I'd see Victor French in a speedo...  I could be wrong, but it seems they made an attempt to cover more of the men's bodies this time with their names right across their crotch.  There were better views in the previous episodes.

Kerwin

Below: There must have been bowling in the early episodes as host Telly Savalas seems to be looking for a comment from Robert Conrad as he's about to toss his ball.

He Needs Your Luv... NOW!

On my birthday post for July 2nd, I celebrated former actor and teen idol Jimmy McNichol's 62nd birthday, by using the image above.  I found the image on Pintrest, but it wasn't a very clear copy.  When I image searched for a version a bit clearer, I stumbled upon the source of the shot.

The shot was a pin-up from a 1980 edition of Teen Spectacular magazine.  I was surprised when checking out the magazine on e-bay how 'aggressive' the teen star press used to be with promoting their subjects.  McNichol would have been about 18 or 19 when the magazine came out, so he was the age of maturity, but the all caps captions to 'touch him' and 'he needs your luv now', are not something you would likely see on a magazine today.

Teen magazines are basically a thing of the past, their goal was clear.  They wanted young girls, and young guys, to lust after the shirtless hotties and shots in their magazine.  The goal has really changed, but today's magazines are a little more subtle, at least with their captions...

History of Horror Hunks: 2021 Edition

The Pumpkin Carver

Given my love of HALLOWEEN, and of scary movies, horror hunks have been a frequent subject for me to post, and write about since the site's beginnings. My favorite horror movies include a dash of fear, a dash of male skin, and big dollop of camp. Sometimes, the lamer the movie, the more fun it is!  Researching so many horror hunks has also proven that it's not just young hot females that directors get naked before having them hacked, bludgeoned or butchered to death.  2015 was certainly my biggest year with a salute to Wes Craven and below are a list from the last 14 years of Horror Hunks.

Horror Hunks: Jimmy McNichol in Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker

'She was lonely. He was all she had. No-one would take him from her - and live...'

Seventeen year old high school senior Billy Lynch was raised by his maternal aunt, Cheryl, with who he has lived since the age of three, when his parents died in a tragic accident. As never married Aunt Cheryl has not dated over that time, it has been only her and Billy in the big, old house next to the woods.

It's not so surprising that Aunt Cheryl develops a bit of an obsession over her 17 year old nephew.  Billy is hot, and Aunt Cheryl loves waking up the shirtless hottie each morning.  Although he plays 17, teen idol Jimmy  McNichol was 20 when the movie was filmed.  Susan Tyrell, known for her quirky roles is brilliantly creepy as Aunt Cheryl who goes to great lengths to keep Billy all for herself.

Up until seeing this film earlier this year on TCM, I hadn't actually seen Jimmy McNicol in any film or television show.  My knowledge of McNichol came from the net, and seeing old shirtless magazine pin-ups from the 70's.  I instantly was in lust, McNichol has an incredible body and an intense sex appeal that come through in his images.  I had heard of his turn in this film, but only last year managed to finally see it.

Although there is a gay subplot that has attracted some critical reactions, I can overlook given it was made in 1981, and is not a huge part of the main story.  The movie was actually much better than I expected, and McNichol's tight butt gets a decent amount of screen time when his aunt interprets his shower.  There was also a surprise (to me anyway) nude scene with actress Julia Duffy's (Newhart) breasts.

In addition to Duffy, Bill Paxton (below) also makes a brief appearance in one of his early films.  I was surprised to see the film was airing on TCM, but then read it got some decent reviews when it was released and won a Saturn award for best horror film in 1982 from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films.

I'm glad I caught and DVR'd it from TCM's Friday night cult classic themes.  I've caught some great classic horror films from the 70' and 80's, many I'd never heard of, and most, I likely never would have seen if not for the network.  So many of my favorite Halloween flicks, and so many of my favorite Horror Hunks have come from watching and recording TCM.

There's an aunt in the shower!
