Blast from the Past: Lee Majors

Except for maybe a few clips on Entertainment Tonight, I don't think I've really ever seen Lee Majors in anything.  Sure, I know he was The Six Million Dollar Man, but it's not really a show I ever cared enough to track down or watch on DVD.  I've never seen even one episode of The Fall Guy, The Big Valley or any of his other appearances, but his turn in Strait-Jacket, did have me wanting to see, and find out more.

Majors was really a beautiful man, with a great face and body.  He's also one of televisions most successful actors, starring on hit show in the 60's, 70's and 80's.   Majors continued to work steadily through the 90's and 2000's and even today, has two films due for future release. 

Although above, I said I never saw Majors in any roles, I lied.  After just double checking his IMDB page, I did see (and love) the 1988 film Scrooged.  I don't really remember Majors in the film though, but I'll give it another look if it airs this Christmas. 

I wasn't aware until searching for 'shirtless' shots of Majors, that The Six Million Dollar Man actually started as a series of TV movies.  There were three that aired in 1973 before it went to series the following year.  In the second television film, Wine, Women and War, Majors showed the most skin, with several shirtless scenes, and the beach job in short shorts shown above.

When I started FH, one of my goals was to only featured some of today's hottest and most talented hunks, but also feature men who impacted my, and others in the past.  So many sites are all about the men of the moment, the current and hottest bodies and moments.  As we all know however, it's hard to stay front burner for too long, at least not without burning out.

Blast From The Past began as my way of spotlighting some of the models, actors and singers who I grew u with.  It soon became so much more.   Although I had connections with many of the men that I featured, I also included actors who I discovered later in life.  There are many actors, who I either didn't like or didn't notice that I looked at differently when I got older.

When I was a kid, I remember thinking that Tom Selleck was sort of 'gross'.  He seemed old, and I hated his moustache, and how hairy he was.  Then... when I hit my thirties, I started looking back on all those shirtless shots of Selleck with a different perspective...   There are also several classic stars from the 40's, 50's and 60's that I never heard of when I was a kid.  Thanks To TCM, I quickly began crushing over actors, many of whom are in their 80's, 90's or no longer with us at all.

This list includes most of those actors, performers, singers and models that I've blasted back to the past with.  I say most, as there are many former heart throbs who showed up in my birthdays or movie section that I have yet to include.  I hope to add them in once I have time to fully research the blog, but this list is a pretty good beginning.   Looking back at some of the posts, especially those from the site's early days, I realize many need an update.  Some were done before I had the ability to cap and create images on my own, and before learning how enlarge an image.  Hoping to update a few of my favorites soon.

The Man in the Plaid Shirt...

'Her Husband... Her Room...And Another Woman!'

Last month, as a lead up to Halloween, TCM did a horror marathon each Sunday night.  In addition to the great films featured, what drew me to the series was that each week, host Ben Mankiewicz was joined by comedian Mario Cantone who both helped choose the movies, and provided commentary.

I've been a fan of Mario's for many years, and reached out to Mario back in 2009 about a 'Favorites' interview for the site, which you can find. (HERE:)  I had never seen 1964's Strait-Jacket which starred Joan Crawford and Diane Baker.  Filmed two years after What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, Strait-Jacket was part of a 60's trend of former leading ladies, unable to get other roles, turning to campy horror flicks in order keep working.

The film, as well as Joan Crawford's performance, are indeed campy and over-the-top, but the movie, as silly as it was, was also a fun watch.  In the film's first few minutes, we're introduced to the husband of Crawford's character Lucy.  I don't think it's a spoiler to say, her husband doesn't stick around for very long....

I was instantly drawn to the actor's smile and great face, not to mention his thick chest, something I find synonymous with many actors from the 60's and 70's.  Today's leading men tend to be much leaner, and I must say, I've grown to love those beefier chests from actors from the time.  I didn't know who the actor was and given that the role was so small, he wasn't included in the films credits.

A quick search however, told me the actor was Lee Majors, in his very first role, even before becoming famous for his television roles in the later 60's and 70's.  I was never really a fan of the actor, although I remember my parents used to like watching re-runs of The Six Million Dollar Man. Although Majors sadly never did a nude scene, I did have go searching for more of his beautiful beefy chest.  Check out some of my favorite finds on the NEXT PAGE HERE:

The Teams 

It's always surprising to me to see which actors who you didn't expect, look hot out of the clothes they usually wear on TV.  Most actors from the 80's were wearing suits as lawyers, uniforms as cops or rescue workers or scrubs as doctors.  I was surprised how hot and beefy Purnell Roberts looked out his scrubs.  It was also nice to see Fred Willard shirtless.  Willard has made most of us laugh for years, but I don't think I recall two many shirtless scenes. (Although I did find one HERE:) 

NBC won this battle, and sadly, like some of the other recent editions, they didn't televise the swimsuit introductions.  Early editions had a 'speedo show' with the swimmers jumping on the swim platform to show wave before it begun.  Most of the skin from the eleventh edition occurred during the kayak event.  Check out the video below.  Jared Martin (From Dallas) looks especially hot patddling along.
