Martin Kove: Actors & SKIN


Although many producers and directors have wisely gotten actor Martin Kove shirtless, he really has only one 'actual' nude scene.  Sure, he had a few sex scenes in some soft-core flicks, but they were not shot in a way to show off Kove.  In his first credited movie, (as Marty Kove) the young actor showed it all.

We can thank Andy Warhol and director Paul Morrisey for Kove's appearance in 1971's Women In Revolt.  Check out caps below from the film, and a few other of Kove's on-screen skinning.

White Light (1991)

An undercover cop gets killed, goes to heaven, meets a beautiful woman there, then inexplicably returns to life. There he is haunted by visions of this woman and her death, and tries to track her down, an undertaking somehow connected to his original assignment.

Steele Justice (1987)

Steele is ex-cop and Vietnam vet who is determined to bring down Kwan, former South Vietnamese general and now rich and powerful drug lord.

Women in Revolt (1971)

Candy is an aloof heiress caught in an unhappy relationship with her brother. Jackie is a virginal intellectual who believes women are oppressed in contemporary American society. And Holly is a nymphomaniac who has come to loathe men, despite her attraction to them.


The stars of Women In Revolt were Jackie Curtis, Candy Darling and Holly Woodlawn, three trans women, superstars of Andy Warhol's Factory scene. Jackie and Candy had previously appeared in Flesh and Holly had starred in Trash. This film was noteworthy in that although directed by Paul Morrisey, Warhol himself also filmed scenes for the film.  The film satirizes the Women's Liberation Movement, and alludes to Valerie Solanas and the SCUM Manifesto.


'We began shooting Women in Revolt in the spring of 1971 on the fashionable Upper East Side in a swank, upscale apartment. My first scene was with Martin Kove, who later became successful in his role on the TV series Cagney and Lacey... '


'I later found out that Martin had no clue as to who or what I was. He had just come out of the service and was trying to break into acting when his uncle introduced him to Paul [Morrissey]. Martin didn't have a clear idea as to what the Warhol crowd was about. Nor did he realize that I wasn't an authentic woman. Nobody bothered to tell him.'

Martin Kove: ACTORS & Skin


I've never really watched Dancing With The Stars.  There were certainly a few seasons that I tuned in for a few episodes because of one the male dancers (Gleb, Valentin ) or one of the 'celebrities' cast.  Usually, after a few weeks I get bored and usually tune out.  I do however, always like seeing who they find to include each season.


I'm sure it's getting harder and harder to find celebrities willing to get on board.  With Brian Austin Green on this season, there aren't really many cast members of Beverly Hills 90201 left!  Thankfully there wasn't a Sean Spicer type included this year, but including Olivia Jade is consistent with the shows desire to grab headlines, even negative ones. 


One of the interesting inclusions this season for me, was the addition of actor Martin Kove.  Although the 75 year actor has worked constantly over the years, he's had somewhat of a career renaissance of late due to his role in Netfilix's Cobra Kai. I've yet to see Cobra Kai, and also have to acknowledge that I've never seen any of The Karate Kid films.  I'm sure I'm not alone, but I was never drawn to tune in

I mostly know Kove from the flash of hairy chest in the opening credits from Cagney and Lacey.  I was too young to watch the show when it was on, I was usually being sent to bed when my mom sat down to watch.  I remember however, enjoying those brief few seconds of Kove's chest before heading off to dreamland.

Year later, I saw a few episodes of the show in repeats.  Cagney & Lacey was definitely a female driven show.  It was interesting to look back at the role reversal with Kove's character. Most male driven shows of the 80's had a female cast member who was sexualized, and put in a bathing suit for the opening credits.  In Cagney & Lacey, it was Kove's character that was that was often shown shirtless and sexualized.  Not a difficult task given the actor's sex appeal.

Last year, I finally got around to catching Kove's nude scene in Paul Morrissey's 1971 film Women In Revolt.  If you haven't seen the film, Kove's nudity is quite a pleasant surprise.  Kove is fully naked with a clothed Holly Woodlawn. Morrissey cast the three foremost drag Superstars in Andy Warhol's The factory, including Woodward.


I attempted to find an interview with Kove discussing his role in the film, but couldn't find any.  I did find one with Holly Woodlawn which may explain why Kove seems to have kept quiet about his role in the film.  Check out much more of Kove, and the nude scene on the NEXT PAGE HERE:

Hot Suits:


Earlier this year, I featured actor Bruce Penhall (CHiPS) , in his bulging baby blue speedos. (HERE:) The shots were from his appearance in the hot suits issues from US Magazine in the 1980's. I'd previously posted images and outtakes of other celebrities from the swimsuit issues and once again... thought I'd reached the end when posted the shots of Bruce.
 

Then... I found a couple more.  This series, features Cagney & Lacey stud Martin Kove, who appeared in the January 1985 swimsuit issue of US.  No stranger to showing a little skin, I've previously featured Martin before on the site, as an actor, (HERE:) and his on-screen nude scenes, including a full frontal, on FH HERE:


Although I think I'm near the end of the US hot suits hotties, I have one or two that I still need to do a little more research on.  In the meantime, enjoy Martin, and his 1980's  hot suit shoot with Night Court's Markie Post.

Archives: Blast From The Past

When I started FH, one of my goals was to only featured some of today's hottest and most talented hunks, but also feature men who impacted my, and others in the past.  So many sites are all about the men of the moment, the current and hottest bodies and moments.  As we all know however, it's hard to stay front burner for too long, at least not without burning out.


Blast From The Past began as my way of spotlighting some of the models, actors and singers who I grew u with.  It soon became so much more.   Although I had connections with many of the men that I featured, I also included actors who I discovered later in life.  There are many actors, who I either didn't like or didn't notice that I looked at differently when I got older.  


When I was a kid, I remember thinking that Tom Selleck was sort of 'gross'.  He seemed old, and I hated his moustache, and how hairy he was.  Then... when I hit my thirties, I started looking back on all those shirtless shots of Selleck with a different perspective...   There are also several classic stars from the 40's, 50's and 60's that I never heard of when I was a kid.  Thanks To TCM, I quickly began crushing over actors, many of whom are in their 80's, 90's or no longer with us at all.


This list includes most of those actors, performers, singers and models that I've blasted back to the past with.  I say most, as there are many former heart throbs who showed up in my birthdays or movie section that I have yet to include.  I hope to add them in once I have time to fully research the blog, but this list is a pretty good beginning.   Looking back at some of the posts, especially those from the site's early days, I realize many need an update.  Some were done before I had the ability to cap and create images on my own, and before learning how enlarge an image.  Hoping to update a few of my favorites soon.
