That Face: Jay R. Ferguson


As soon as I first saw promo's for ABC's new comedy 'The Real O'Neal's, I knew that sexy face on the actor playing the dad was familiar. Sure actor Jay R. Ferguson is a little older, a little bigger, than when I first crushed on him on the television version of The Outsiders, but his face, and his sex appeal, has not diminished one little bit.


Even if you don't know it, you know Jay R. Ferguson. If you didn't crush over his pin-ups during his teen idol days in the 90's, you watched him on film and in television shows like The Outsiders, Evening Shade, Surface, Judging Amy, Sleeper Cell and most recently with his turn on Mad Men.


Jay may not get the attention some of his fellow actors do, but his talent, and that face, have allowed him to work consistently since the 90's. While some of his fellow teen idols rose, and then disappeared, with his new role on The New O'Neals, Ferguson thankfully, isn't going anywhere!

Matt Oberg: Adulterated


Last year, I gave The Real O'Neals a try for two specific reasons. First, it was a sit-com focused on a gay teen coming out in a devoted Catholic family. Second, it featured one of my childhood crushes Jay R. Ferguson, now, old enough to play the dad. As you can see from Jay R's shirtless scene from last night's episode, he still has an intensely crusable quality. I didn't initially however, really get into the show. Although Jay R. and the supporting cast kept me watching, the young actor playing gay teen Kenny, although immensely talented, was a little too hammy, often written as more annoying than enjoyable, especially in some of the shows early episodes. Thankfully, the writers seem to have gotten a better balance in this season with more story for Kenny's interesting brother and sister, and more of a focus on the adults.


As part of that adult focus, actor and writer Matt Oberg was added as a regular playing the man between the separated Pat (Jay R.) and Eileen. (Martha Plimpton). Although Plimpton has a tendency to sometimes catch that 'ham' bug herself, her talent and experience allow her to pull it off, especially in her scenes with Oberg.


Oberg is absolutely adorable as VP Murray and has added an adult dynamic the show really needed. In many ways, as goofy as his character his, he often grounds the show given the character is not an actual member of the the family. Sadly, it looks like VP Murray might be looking for a transfer as Oberg was recently cast in Carol Burnett's return to television in the new show Household Name. Hopefully The Real O'Neals will work around Oberg's schedule, as he has become an important part of the show this season.

Archives: Blast From The Past

When I started FH, one of my goals was to only featured some of today's hottest and most talented hunks, but also feature men who impacted my, and others in the past.  So many sites are all about the men of the moment, the current and hottest bodies and moments.  As we all know however, it's hard to stay front burner for too long, at least not without burning out.


Blast From The Past began as my way of spotlighting some of the models, actors and singers who I grew u with.  It soon became so much more.   Although I had connections with many of the men that I featured, I also included actors who I discovered later in life.  There are many actors, who I either didn't like or didn't notice that I looked at differently when I got older.  


When I was a kid, I remember thinking that Tom Selleck was sort of 'gross'.  He seemed old, and I hated his moustache, and how hairy he was.  Then... when I hit my thirties, I started looking back on all those shirtless shots of Selleck with a different perspective...   There are also several classic stars from the 40's, 50's and 60's that I never heard of when I was a kid.  Thanks To TCM, I quickly began crushing over actors, many of whom are in their 80's, 90's or no longer with us at all.


This list includes most of those actors, performers, singers and models that I've blasted back to the past with.  I say most, as there are many former heart throbs who showed up in my birthdays or movie section that I have yet to include.  I hope to add them in once I have time to fully research the blog, but this list is a pretty good beginning.   Looking back at some of the posts, especially those from the site's early days, I realize many need an update.  Some were done before I had the ability to cap and create images on my own, and before learning how enlarge an image.  Hoping to update a few of my favorites soon.

Actors & Skin" Jay R. Ferguson


Although Jay has had his fair share of shirtless scenes, I believe his only two nude scenes were in 1995's Higher Learning and then, two decades later with a brief mooning scene on Mad Men. Let's hope we don't have to wait another twenty years!
