Scott Baio: Indelible

I know, that many have soured on Scott Baio.  I get it, in addition to his politics, he's a social media douchebag.  That being said, Baio was not only one of the hottest hunks to squeeze into a speedo for Battle, he was also one of the most photographed.

Baio is one of those actor's I got to know through photographs before actually seeing him on television.  I remember seeing him in old teen magazines and loving his hot, tight little body.  I first saw Baio on TV in Charles In Charge, but I didn't really get into the show.  I did however, get into his look, and collecting images that I'd cut out of magazines.  Although my crush ended long ago, I couldn't do a post on Battle, without a few extra images of Baio's bod.

Scott Baio was a Tiger Beat Hottie from the late 70's through mid eighties. He had roles on Happy Days, Charles In Charge, Joanie Loves Chachi and my favorite little remembered comedy Blanky's Beauties. He also a few movie roles including Zapped and Foxes with Jodi Foster. In the nineties he came back briefly with Baby Talk but it did not last long. Today Scott has a reality show which basically seems to be about him finding a woman, but in his day I am sure he had no problems. Right Heather Locklear???

At one time or another, I was drawn to, and featured on the site all of the actors shown.  In some cases, I was aware of their politics, but as I stated above, up until the last four years, I really wasn't all that concerned about the politics of others.  I tend to care less about what a person thinks, and more about how a person treats those around them.  

The last four years have changed all that.  Given the hate and cruelty demonstrated by the current occupant in the White House,  I've lost respect for anyone who supports him.  I'm featuring the following actors (for the last time) here not because they support a party, but because they've all vocally supported a dictator who's hurt so many and damaged so much.   

Antonio Sabato Jr.

Despite his politics, Antonio Sabato Jr. has certainly not run from playing to the gay community when it comes to making a buck.  From soap stud to underwear model to playing gay on screen several times.  I'm not sure Sabato Jr came to his belief's late in life, or whether is career hypocrisy was always there.  Regardless, I enjoyed my days of lusting over Antonio, but like his career, it's over.

I often wonder if when Scott Baio was posing shirtless for all those teen magazine pin-ups, whether he knew his fans were both teenage girls and gay men.  I suspect he did.  Despite some of the dumb things he's said on social media, he seems more angry than stupid.  He did (does) have quite a body, one I enjoyed up until the last few years.

Although it's not really that well known, Baio actually does have a 'nude scene'.  Don't get too excited, it's really one of the most frustrating scenes ever.  In 1987's I Love N.Y., Baio's character turns off all the lights  before getting out of bed.  Although it's almost pitch black, you can still see a hint of Baio butt, but really, it's not worth the effort. 

Kevin Sorbo

Actor Kevin Sorbo is a vocal Trump supporter, and one of those idiots who thinks mask wearing is a form of government control.  I don't think I've actually ever seen Sorbo on TV or in a movie, but I did at one time salivate over his hairy chest.  That has certainly dried up.

When I was a teen, I watched Lois & Clark mostly for how adorable I thought Dean Cain was.  When I got older, and read some of his thoughts on line, the hero worship quickly died.  If there was any actor less worthy of the Superman tights and cape it's Mr. Cain.

One of the most jarring examples of Cain's hypocrisy is his taking on a gay role in 2001's The Broken Hearts Club.  This from an actor who went on to  participate in the Values Voters Summit run by the anti-LGBTQ Family Research Council....

Given how it's filmed, I'm guessing the butt shown in 2010's Bed & Breakfast isn't Cain's, but it's still the closest to a nude scene I think he's filmed.

When I started FH, one of my goals was to only featured some of today's hottest and most talented hunks, but also feature men who impacted my, and others in the past.  So many sites are all about the men of the moment, the current and hottest bodies and moments.  As we all know however, it's hard to stay front burner for too long, at least not without burning out.

Blast From The Past began as my way of spotlighting some of the models, actors and singers who I grew u with.  It soon became so much more.   Although I had connections with many of the men that I featured, I also included actors who I discovered later in life.  There are many actors, who I either didn't like or didn't notice that I looked at differently when I got older.

When I was a kid, I remember thinking that Tom Selleck was sort of 'gross'.  He seemed old, and I hated his moustache, and how hairy he was.  Then... when I hit my thirties, I started looking back on all those shirtless shots of Selleck with a different perspective...   There are also several classic stars from the 40's, 50's and 60's that I never heard of when I was a kid.  Thanks To TCM, I quickly began crushing over actors, many of whom are in their 80's, 90's or no longer with us at all.

This list includes most of those actors, performers, singers and models that I've blasted back to the past with.  I say most, as there are many former heart throbs who showed up in my birthdays or movie section that I have yet to include.  I hope to add them in once I have time to fully research the blog, but this list is a pretty good beginning.   Looking back at some of the posts, especially those from the site's early days, I realize many need an update.  Some were done before I had the ability to cap and create images on my own, and before learning how enlarge an image.  Hoping to update a few of my favorites soon.

As we're, (finally) approaching the 1980's, I seem to be more familiar with more and more of the contestants on the Battle of the Network Stars episodes. I only had to Google a few names form the sixth installment, and they were all female actors.

It still amazes me, the variety of actors who appeared on the show.  Today, I don't think you'd find big name network stars on a celebrity sports event.  It's weird to see names like Billy Crystal and Scott Baio on the same team, let alone the same show.  As much as I dislike Baio today, I can't deny he was incredibly hot when he was younger.

Although as you can see, there were plenty of hot 1970's hunks in speedos, most of the best views came from promotional shots.  Again in this episode, they skipped the introduction to the swim competition, and the parade of actors in their swim suits. 

There was still plenty of skin, and if you look closely at the image below, it looks as if Leif Garrett may have flashed a little of his balls when he took part in the dunk tank competition. 

Whenever I see images of actor Robert Urich from the 70's and 80's I think of how sad it was he died so young.  Urich really was one of the most handsome men at the time.  One of these days, I'll have to check out some of his work.  The only movie of Urich's I really watched was Endangered Species, and that's because of his butt scene. Although they didn't do the 'speedo intros', I still included the swimming relay in the video below. You do get a few good views, but sadly so many missed opportunities.  WKRP's Gary Sandy was swimming in his speedo, but I couldn't find one decent shot.  You do however get to hear Howard Cosell describe Leig Garrett as 'young and supple.'   You also get a hot William Devane.  Although incredibly talented, I never saw Devane as especially handsome, but he looks really good with his longer hair and his facial hair as well.
