Blast From The Past: Steve Antin

I started this post on hunky Rick, (Steve Antin) last July 4th, but ended up shelving it due to room.  Although it doesn't really fit into my theme, holidays, even serious ones, need a bit of fun as well. If you grew up in the 80's or 90's, even if you don't instantly recognize his name, I'm positive you've seen Steve's, (sometimes credited as Steve) work.  

The New York born actor made his feature film debut was in 1982's, The Last American Virgin.  He  followed up with roles in films including; Sweet Sixteen, The Goonies, Survival Quest, It's My Party and The Accused.  On television, Antin had roles on shows including; Silver Spoons, 21 Jump St, Misfits of Science, NYPD Blue and Amazing Stories. 

Since the 2000's, Steve's moved behind the camera as a writer, producer and director.  In addition to directing music videos for Cher and The Pussycat Dolls, Antin also directed Cher in 2010's Burlesque.  Antin also wrote the screenplay.   Currently, Antin is producing, along with Burlesque's Christina Aguilera, a stage version of the 2010 musical hit.

Now, back to Antin's 1982 big screen debut.  I've featured caps from The Last American Virgin previously on the site, usually for a birthday post.  I never featured the full locker room scene though.  I remember seeing the flick on VHS in the late 80's and using the pause button liberally on the 'measuring up' scene.  

The film has many of the usual 80's teen comedy tropes.  The three pizza delivery guys include the teen male friend trifecta.  One is overweight,  (Joe Rubbo) one is a cute geek, ( Lawrence Monoson) and one is, well hunky Rick. (Antin) Their quest to lose their virginity is the focus of the film which includes the locker room scene I referenced.  Check out caps and videos of the scene on the NEXT PAGE HERE:

Blast From The Past for December 12th Steve Antin

The invention of the VCR certainly was welcomed by many gay youth who were able for the first time to watch movies, not always gay movies, which featured scenes of nudity which in the past were much harder to find. I have talked before about some of my favorite nude scenes, for me many of the most impactful scenes were from my teen years during the 80's. I saw 'The Last American Virgin' (1982) when my family finally got a vcr in the late 80's when I was about 12 or 13, and I am sure Steve Antin's performance, especially the 'measuring' scene is well remembered by more than myself. Steve Antin has a very interesting past and resume. Although this role may be best remembered by many, he also had great turns in 'The Goonies', and his great performance in 'The Accused'. Steve spent time on the tv guest shot circut and smaller movies, but his last acting role was in 'NYPD Blue' in the 90's. Steve has gone to become a producer, writer, director and even stunt man. Steve, who is openly gay was the boyfriend of movie mogul David Geffen during the mid to late 80's. Currently Steve spends his time focusing on producing and produces 'Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious' and is the brother of the founder of Pussycat Dolls, Robin Antin. Steve certainly has an interesting career, beginning with one of his most memorable roles in 'The Last American Virgin'.

When I was a kid, I remember thinking that Tom Selleck was sort of 'gross'.  He seemed old, and I hated his moustache, and how hairy he was.  Then... when I hit my thirties, I started looking back on all those shirtless shots of Selleck with a different perspective...   There are also several classic stars from the 40's, 50's and 60's that I never heard of when I was a kid.  Thanks To TCM, I quickly began crushing over actors, many of whom are in their 80's, 90's or no longer with us at all.

This list includes most of those actors, performers, singers and models that I've blasted back to the past with.  I say most, as there are many former heart throbs who showed up in my birthdays or movie section that I have yet to include.  I hope to add them in once I have time to fully research the blog, but this list is a pretty good beginning.   Looking back at some of the posts, especially those from the site's early days, I realize many need an update.  Some were done before I had the ability to cap and create images on my own, and before learning how enlarge an image.  Hoping to update a few of my favorites soon.

Anyone growing up in the age of VHS rentals remembers Steve's famous scene in the 80's teen flick The Last American Virgin. Steve has now put his talents behind the scenes and was the writer and director of 2010's Burlesque.

12 Days: The Last American Virgin

'The man who has the biggest tool, he's the one who wins the pool.'

If you've watched in a few teen sex comedies, especially from the 80's,  you know losing your virginity is a theme in most of them.  In 1982's The Last American Virgin, three high schoolers are laser focused on the task.  Based on the 1978 Israeli film Lemon Popsicle, director Boaz Davidson sought to replicate the success of the Israeli film with an American version. 

I'll have to check out the original to see if they had a similar scene to the one below.  In the scene, the guys spot student Victor spying on the girls locker room.  After noticing he has a boner, they decided to have a measuring contest to see who has the longest penis.  There are no frontals, but a hot scene of the students lining up to be measured.

Measuring Up!

Hunky Rick is one of the guys measured, and I'm guessing the hot behind we see is his.  Steve Antin would have been in his early 20's at the time, and I'm not thinking they hired a butt double for a  young actor in his feature film debut. Gary and David, (Lawrence Monoson and Joe Rubbo) do the measuring.  Both were still in their late teens, which may explain why they were not seen nude.  

Monoson does have a tighy undie scene and we see brief flashes of Rubbo's butt in a sex scene. Rubbo was about 18 during filming so it may have been him, but because of how it was shot, it may have been a double.

Antin

After a hard competition, it was Victor's boner, which motivated the contest ends up the clear winner.  His official measurement was 9'5' inches.
