When I started FH, one of my goals was to only featured some of today's hottest and most talented hunks, but also feature men who impacted my, and others in the past.  So many sites are all about the men of the moment, the current and hottest bodies and moments.  As we all know however, it's hard to stay front burner for too long, at least not without burning out.

Blast From The Past began as my way of spotlighting some of the models, actors and singers who I grew u with.  It soon became so much more.   Although I had connections with many of the men that I featured, I also included actors who I discovered later in life.  There are many actors, who I either didn't like or didn't notice that I looked at differently when I got older.

When I was a kid, I remember thinking that Tom Selleck was sort of 'gross'.  He seemed old, and I hated his moustache, and how hairy he was.  Then... when I hit my thirties, I started looking back on all those shirtless shots of Selleck with a different perspective...   There are also several classic stars from the 40's, 50's and 60's that I never heard of when I was a kid.  Thanks To TCM, I quickly began crushing over actors, many of whom are in their 80's, 90's or no longer with us at all.

This list includes most of those actors, performers, singers and models that I've blasted back to the past with.  I say most, as there are many former heart throbs who showed up in my birthdays or movie section that I have yet to include.  I hope to add them in once I have time to fully research the blog, but this list is a pretty good beginning.   Looking back at some of the posts, especially those from the site's early days, I realize many need an update.  Some were done before I had the ability to cap and create images on my own, and before learning how enlarge an image.  Hoping to update a few of my favorites soon.

Testing Testing...

When I saw recently saw the image above I struck again by how beautiful Marlon Brando was, and how sexy his legs look in the pic. I knew the image was from Julius Caesar but a quick image search told me it was a wardrobe test image from the shooting of the film. I have come across and featured wardrobe test shots before, but Brando's legs had me on the search to find more...

I was surprised how difficult it was to find images of actors past the 1960's. They weren't shooting digitally in the 70's, 80's and 90's, yet it seems for the most part, they stop slipping into the public domain sometime in the 60's. They still take them, for movies and TV shows, soap actors in fact, get shot daily to ensure continuity is carried over in wardrobe, hair and make-up for the next day's shooting.

It seems these vintage shots were taken not for continuity, but as part of the beginning of a film's journey when costumes and make-up are being finalized for the actors that were cast. For many classic movies, man of these shots were released, for promotional purposes, and to collectors. In addition, many actors themselves kept the shots and later released or sold them. I'm told today, most are taken digitally, and stored or erased when they are no longer needed. Too bad... there are a lot of movies, and a lot of roles, that would have led to some great wardrobe test shots.

When selecting stories for holiday's, I usually first by looking for a 'holiday hunk'. With Christmas and Halloween, it is easy, as there are hundreds of movies set on or about the those two particular holidays. Easter is a little trickier. There are Easter movies, most, like The 10 Commandments, are Christian based films, and not many are full of hunky naked actors. (although I did profile Charlton Heston and the cast of The 10 Commandments last Easter weekend. (Exodus 20)

Soooo, then I look for holiday inspired images, and with Easter, those usually involved hot guys wearing a pair of bunny ears. This year, when searching for holiday shots, the images, and especially those bunnies... started looking a lot more sinister. I came upon a site that listed Easter movies, and in the horror section was a film called Easter Bunny:Kill Kill, with the clever tag line 'Time to Dye!'

I was hooked. Other tag lines such as 'The Hunt is On', A Different Kind of Hip-Hop Tail and Here Comes Peter CottonHell had me on a Horror movie Easter hunt, for more Rabbit Raging films. The hunt was not a difficult one as I was sort of surprised to find out how many bunny killer themed movies have been made.

Most are B movies with limited budgets and few have actors you have heard of.  But...the titles, taglines and posters were enough of a draw to keep me interested. There are quite a few trailers and scenes on Youtube if any of these films grab you, but be warned, after years of being gutted at the hands of humans, these bunnies get their much deserved, and very bloody revenge.

Thou Shalt Not Covet...

In addition to chocolate eggs and cute hunks in bunny ears, for people of faith, Easter is first and foremost a religious holiday which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  No matter where you fall with religion and faith, for me, it is important to keep some sort of meaning, the giving and forgiveness, as part of the celebration.  If not....those who use religion only as a way to back up hate and prejudice own the holidays, and for me, that would be a greater sin.

So... that leads me to this post.   I wanted to bring faith somehow into today's postings, and nothing has me say 'thank you God' than tied up shirtless men in skirts.  Although The 10 Commandments is really an Easter movie, most of us are aware it airs on ABC pretty much every Easter Weekend.

Regular FH readers won't be too surprised to learn I have never seen the 1956 Cecil B. DeMille extravaganza.  Although I am sure I have seen a few minutes here and there when walking into the rec room when my mother watched, nothing about it, until today, really had me wanting to watch.  It it a really long movie, and from the little I saw, looked incredibly boring.

Although I have gotten over my phobia of movies made before I was born, I have still not gotten around this one.  When looking for images however, I must say I was taken by all the man chests, especially on actor John Derek.  Although I think I knew Derek was an actor, up until today, all I really knew about him was his penchant for recycling Hollywood blondes.

Usually Derek was getting the shirts off others, especially his wife Bo, but in The 10 Commandments, it is Derek's shirt that mostly stayed off.  When doing a bit more digging, a few things did come back to me.  I have seen the Derek directed Tarzan The Ape Man, mostly because of the loin cloth wearing Miles O'Keeffe.  I remember when I did a small image piece on Miles reading their was conflict on the set, mostly due to Derek, who if I remember,  earned a reputation of being a wee bit controlling by this point in his career.

Derek is certainly stunning in most of the promotional shots for The 10 Commandments, especially when tied up.  Not sure if it warrants a four hour viewing of the film, but it may have me watching with my finger on the FF button.
