Horror Hunks: Scott Bakula in Lord of Illusions

I'm a little late this year starting my Horror Hunks series, but I've a gathered a great collection of hot hunks fighting for their lives against ghosts, demons and a variety of crazy killers.  First off, an actor I know many of you know and love, Scott Bakula.

I was first introduced to Scott not through a television show or movie, but through his performance on the 1988 Tony Awards. (HERE:)  The show was Romance/Romance and Scott was nominated for a Tony for his role in the show.  As soon as Scott changed into his polo shirt and jeans I was in lust and wanted to know more about the man and the actor and singer on stage.

Although Scott is known for his television roles he's also appeared in several successful films including his turn as the occult-specializing private detective Harry D'Amour in 1995's Lord of Illusions.  In the film, written and directed by Clive Barker, Harry gets more than he bargains for when he encounters Philip Swan, a performer whose amazing illusions captivate the world.  The illusions however, are not really what everyone thinks they are...

Murphy Brown

As far as I could tell from my research, Bakula has sadly never done an official nude scene.  Although he's been shirtless many times, on film and on television in shows like Murphy Brown, and of course his long running role in  Quantum Leap, nothing I could really find below the waste.  His nude scene in Lord of Illusions is the closest we have to the Bakula butt with a tempting side view near the end of the love scene.

When I started FH, one of my goals was to only featured some of today's hottest and most talented hunks, but also feature men who impacted my, and others in the past.  So many sites are all about the men of the moment, the current and hottest bodies and moments.  As we all know however, it's hard to stay front burner for too long, at least not without burning out.

Blast From The Past began as my way of spotlighting some of the models, actors and singers who I grew u with.  It soon became so much more.   Although I had connections with many of the men that I featured, I also included actors who I discovered later in life.  There are many actors, who I either didn't like or didn't notice that I looked at differently when I got older.

When I was a kid, I remember thinking that Tom Selleck was sort of 'gross'.  He seemed old, and I hated his moustache, and how hairy he was.  Then... when I hit my thirties, I started looking back on all those shirtless shots of Selleck with a different perspective...   There are also several classic stars from the 40's, 50's and 60's that I never heard of when I was a kid.  Thanks To TCM, I quickly began crushing over actors, many of whom are in their 80's, 90's or no longer with us at all.

This list includes most of those actors, performers, singers and models that I've blasted back to the past with.  I say most, as there are many former heart throbs who showed up in my birthdays or movie section that I have yet to include.  I hope to add them in once I have time to fully research the blog, but this list is a pretty good beginning.   Looking back at some of the posts, especially those from the site's early days, I realize many need an update.  Some were done before I had the ability to cap and create images on my own, and before learning how enlarge an image.  Hoping to update a few of my favorites soon.

Scott Bakula for Shield soap in the early 1980's. I don't think I have ever seen an episode of Quantum Leap, Enterprise or NCIS. I did however, fall in lust with Scott after watching him sing and dance on the 1989 The Tony Awards during his time on Broadway in Romance Romance.

Candelabra Confusion

I like Michael Douglas, loved him in The American President, Traffic, Wall Street and so many other great performance. Douglas was so compelling in Fatal Attraction that to me it was he, and not Glenn Close, who played the films true villain.

I don't however get all the love for his portrayal of Liberace in Beyond The Candelabra. I enjoyed the movie but it was not a great piece of Cinema. Not really good enough to ever watch again and not really bad or funny enough to reach the level of guilty pleasure. As I wrote in my original review, I though Douglas missed the mark in his performance. It was Matt Damon who I found much more compelling. All of the cast in fact, Damon, Rob Lowe and Scott Bakula inhabited their roles much more believably than Douglas. I am just not sure why he keeps winning all the awards when against Damon, Jeremy Irons, Al Pacino and others, for me, he put in one of the more weaker performances in his group. Not bad, just not to me, worthy of the praise he is getting.

Blast From The Past!!!

One of my favorite features to put together on FH is Blast From The Past. BFTP was an attempt to shine a light on actors, models and celebrities who made an impact on me while I was growing up. Many of the men featured came from reader suggestions and I spent a lot of time researching men who were famous before my time. Many of the men featured are still busy working, some were only famous during a certain era, some were mere flashes in the pan. Some sadly have passed away. I am happy with all of the famous faces from the past that have been featured and wanted to revisit that part of the blog.



I am hoping some of you might help me with who to feature next? Is there anyone you would like to see added to this impressive list? Anyone you wonder what happened to, any of the guys I have already featured I could feature again with new photos or info? Favorite Fan Base not to be messed with: David Conrad's

Let me start by saying, that I am not a regular viewer of 'Ghost Whisperer'. I like the show, I simply don't love it enough to tivo. I am not usually home when it airs, but at the same time, when I am home, I usually have it on and though do not sit down and watch intently, enjoy having the show on while I am doing a task or some work.

The thing about 'Ghost Whisperer' that I do like, is that it is always enjoyable. I can count on it being the same each week. I like that about a Friday Night Drama. I also enjoy Jennifer Love Hewitt, who has suffered with the press and fans since her days as a popular rising star during her time on 'Party Of Five'. I also LOVE LOVE Camryn Manheim who I worshiped on 'The Practice' although is mercifully wasted on this show. I also really love David Conrad, who is a beautiful beautiful appealing actor playing the husband of many women's dreams.



Recently the writers of 'Ghost Whisperer' decided to mess with it's fans. When stories started to surface that David Conrad would be written out of the show, message boards went crazy with angry fans. Last week, his character, Jim, did indeed die and become a ghost. While I think he will come back to life next week, it doesn't really matter what the writers now do. This storyline, no matter how it plays out, jerked many of it's loyal fans enough to create a huge lost of trust with the show.



I am sure the writers know what a gem they have in Conrad. If they did not know it before, they certainly do now. There are some actors and their fans you simply do not mess with. The list is short, Richard Dean Anderson, Scott Bakula and a few others. CBS certainly learned with the cancellation of 'Moonlight' last season that Alex O'Loughlin has joined that list. There is something about David Conrad, his great looks and talent yes, but as well the writers can take credit for writing an ideal husband in Jim that women found understanding, supportive and most of all safe. These are qualities, especially safety, that you do mess with. Well, my guess is as I said Jim will be just fine either way, but again, no matter what, the writers have some work ahead of them to undo the stress they caused many of their fans.
